Grand Slam - Tarpon, Bonefish and Permit

Conch Tales Part 2 is the most epic day of flats fishing we've ever had! Capt Blair Wiggins heads out from Key West harbor with Capt Brandon Cyr in search of a "Grand Slam". Catching a tarpon, bonefish and permit all in one day is a difficult tasks not on television, but we had the cameras rolling and captured one of our best episodes ever. Up first was the tarpon, the silver king is one of the toughest fish to get to the boat. Mosquito Lagoon Seatrout and Redfish

Mosquito Lagoon is one of those places where if the fish aren't biting in one spot, move to another one and it could turn on. We were fishing with a good friend, Capt Jon Lulay . Jon was our first camera boat driver back in the beginning, so it was about time to put him in front of the camera. Jon has become one of the top sight fishing guides for trout in Mosquito Lagoon. He wanted to start in the southern part of the Lagoon where he had caught fish the day before. Unfortunately, the wind had other plans. It was tough to see anything or sight cast to fish for that matter. We caught a small redfish but the conditions weren't improving. I suggested we move North to one of my secret spots, and it payed off big. As we were coming into the flat, I saw a large shadow off to my right. If this was a trout, it was a mogan. Smyrna Pompano and Red Snapper

Got a call from a guest guide we had on the show years ago - Capt Billy Harris. Billy and I fished together when he lived on the west coast of Florida. We shot an awesome tarpon episode. He said Austin Ferguson was his name, and he can put you on jetty pompano and red snapper offshore. Rarely do I get a call about a solid pompano bite and when I do, I don't pass it up. Called the camera crew, booked Austin, hooked up the new Skeeter SX2550 and away we went. We ran out to the Ponce Inlet jetty and set the Minn Kota spot lock. The bite was slow in the morning. Austin was not happy with the tide, so we ran offshore to target the elusive red snapper. As soon as we dropped lived baits down, the bite was on. These weren't smallies. They were mogan red snapper. Steinhatchee Inshore Fishing

This week's episode is from Steinhatchee, Florida - one of my favorite places to fish in the winter. It's one of those places that still feels like old Florida complete with spanish moss and friendly people everywhere. We spent the night at the Sea Hag Marina and headed out the next morning with Capt Brett Molzen . I kept saying this was my first time fishing Steinhatchee, but my memory was failing me, and I didn't have my producer on set to correct me.
