The First Episode of Addictive Fishing

Early Addictive Fishing Photos and Logo It's been 22 years since the first Addictive Fishing shoot in the Florida Keys. After it was all said and done, I knew we were on to something big. It all started in 1999, when Captain Blair Wiggins and his family walked into my television production studio in Safety Harbor, Florida. He traveled all the way across the state to ask me if I would produce his new fishing show. To be honest, I hadn't watched Saturday morning fishing shows since I was in high school. That weekend, I watched Mark Sosin, Bill Dance, Hank Parker, and Jimmy Houston's fishing shows. I couldn't believe my eyes. These fishing shows hadn't changed since I was in high school. Redfishosaurus Rex

Field & Stream in Cary, North Carolina, fishing in Oriental, NC, and then to Dick's Sporting Goods in N. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina . . . it's been a busy week for me and the AF Crew, but what a fun week it's been! Last weekend we celebrated the grand opening of the new Field & Stream store in Cary, NC. What a beautiful store! I could spend a lot of time and money if there were one closer to me at home in Florida. My wife Cari is probably happy there isn't one there, yet! Mosquito Lagoon Seatrout and Redfish

Mosquito Lagoon is one of those places where if the fish aren't biting in one spot, move to another one and it could turn on. We were fishing with a good friend, Capt Jon Lulay . Jon was our first camera boat driver back in the beginning, so it was about time to put him in front of the camera. Jon has become one of the top sight fishing guides for trout in Mosquito Lagoon. He wanted to start in the southern part of the Lagoon where he had caught fish the day before. Unfortunately, the wind had other plans. It was tough to see anything or sight cast to fish for that matter. We caught a small redfish but the conditions weren't improving. I suggested we move North to one of my secret spots, and it payed off big. As we were coming into the flat, I saw a large shadow off to my right. If this was a trout, it was a mogan. I flipped out my DOA CAL paddletail and she ate it. The biggest speckled seatrout I've hooked in years on the Space Coast. T

Grand Slam - Tarpon, Bonefish and Permit

Conch Tales Part 2 is the most epic day of flats fishing we've ever had! Capt Blair Wiggins heads out from Key West harbor with Capt Brandon Cyr in search of a "Grand Slam". Catching a tarpon, bonefish and permit all in one day is a difficult tasks not on television, but we had the cameras rolling and captured one of our best episodes ever. Up first was the tarpon, the silver king is one of the toughest fish to get to the boat. After Capt Blair got one to the boat, it was time to pole the flats in search of the grey ghost - the bonefish. Capt Cyr spotted one immediately, and the fight was on. What a drag screamer! If you are lucky enough to land one of the fastest fish on the flats, to get the slam you need to catch a permit. They have the biggest eyeballs on the flats and are very wary fish. Steinhatchee Inshore Fishing

This week's episode is from Steinhatchee, Florida - one of my favorite places to fish in the winter. It's one of those places that still feels like old Florida complete with spanish moss and friendly people everywhere. We spent the night at the Sea Hag Marina and headed out the next morning with Capt Brett Molzen . I kept saying this was my first time fishing Steinhatchee, but my memory was failing me, and I didn't have my producer on set to correct me. I have fished in Steinhatchee many years ago with an old salty dog, Capt Randall Leger. Check out that episode here . As I get older my guests are getting younger, Brett was my son's age, but he had this place dialed in. We headed out early and fished a nice flat and started throwing Mirrodines by Mirrolure.
