Battle of Kings

Capt. Blair invades the pass with his old fishing buddy, a great new product from Engle to keep your live baits lively, Mogan of the Week, and the moment we've been waiting for...Weekend Warrior Challenge is here!!!

This week we'll catch up with Capt. Blair as he fishes Boca Grande, Florida with his long time friend and tournament fishing partner, Capt. Tadd VanDemark. As you may already know, Capt. Blair and Capt. Tadd hit it big together on the FLW Redfish circuit a few years ago. Watch as these former kings of the tournament trail battle with some kings of another kind, namely the "silver king," a.k.a. tarpon, and kingfish, along with grouper and the biggest permit of Capt. Tadd's career! You can catch this week's episode on Thursday at 6 PM and again on Saturday at 7 PM on The Sportsman Channel. Here's a little behind the scenes teaser...

Cool your jets... Engle is well known for their high performance coolers. Recently, they introduced an aerated and insulated bait cooler designed to keep your bait alive and happy on the hottest days of summer. Check it out here. Your bait will thank you.

Mogan of the Week...This week's Mogan comes to us from Jordan Rehn, who lives in Apopka, FL. Jordan caught this beast on a 12" live mullet while fishing in Mosquito Lagoon. Jordan and his friends didn't weight the fish because of its size; they didn't want to risk hurting or killing the fish by lifting it unsupported. Smart thinking and an excellent job guys! Looks like 40+ lbs. from here... Now that's a Mogan !
Unless you've been living under the rock in my aquarium, you're probably well aware that the Weekend Warrior Challenge presented by Dick's Sporting Goods is being held this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2nd & 3rd. There will be a maximum field of 250 entries, we now have 20 openings left in the field. We expect to fill the field, so don't miss out on your last chance to make AF history!  For only $25,  you get to test your angling skills against the Mogan Man and the rest of the field, not to mention you'll receive a tournament goody bag stuffed with some of the coolest AF gear on the planet! ($50 value for a $25 entry fee, are you kiddin' me???)

You can fish from shore, kayak, or boat. If you don't have a boat and have never fished in a tournament but always wanted to try it, here's your chance. There's an amazing prize list and several awards for each category. Proceeds from this tournament will help Mote Marine Laboratory, Project Snook and Recycled Fish do their thing to help restore and conserve our valuable fishing resources. It's a great opportunity to help a truly worthy cause and to fish with your fellow Mogan Maniacs led by Mr. Mogan himself. So what are you waiting for? Pre-register here while there are still openings available. Don't hate yourself in the morning.
I might swim by and check it out myself...

Be sure to stop by the Mogan Lounge and wake me up.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to our friends and families living in the northeast. Wishing you a speedy recovery from Hurricane Sandy.
