I just finished watching Blair fishing for Reds near the Indian River.  He said he was using 15# power pro with 40# florucarbon.  Whats the best knot to join these two?  I have a little problem with that big a shock leader and such a small diameter braid.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Bombero

I have heard if you double the braid over then tie a uni to uni it works well....my problem is I still can't tie a loop knot properly....DOA's website does'nt make it clear for me or I am not good at following simple directions.

A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work !!!

I'm new at this site but so after reading more posts, it looks like uni to uni is still the way to go.

Try this site , it is about the best I have found for knots , I personally only use a surgeons knot to tie leader to line , but this site will give you all the best ones to try

15# Power pro is closer to 30 to 40 # strength when compared to non braid lines. That is one reason why you will see such a heavier leader used. Also the heavier leader is for abrasion resistance.

The uni to uni in my experience does not have to be doubled and there is a good diagram for the uni to uni at http://powerpro.com/using/uniuni.asp

I use this one for my leader to line connections. In fact, even though this diagram says different, if you have doubled your braid before tying this knot, you only need to may 6 wraps around the leader and it will not slip.

For the canoeman LOOP knot look at the diagram and info on this page

I once had a bad day of fishing, but it was still great!

Thanks y'all.  My only confusion was that power pro stated that the uni to uni did'nt work well with low to high diameter lines. I'll practice with all your suggestions. I'll be in mexico for about a month over the holidays, so I'll test them on some tuna.  Bombero
