I seem to only catch the 18" snook.  I have fished the inlet about 3 times with absolutely no luck at all.  What should I do when I go to the inlet, what baits?  Also, where can I find these big snook in the Indian River? Thanks in advance...

What bait are you using? I've been snook fishing for years. And to be honest the best bait for snook to me is pinfish without a doubt. I have caught more snook on pinfish than any other bait. It has been my experience that snook are so used to seeing greenbacks and other like baits, that when they see a pinfish it stands out from the rest and they will jump it more often than not. Yes, stuff like greenback are good, but die to easily. I can use a pinfish and it will swim around frantically for over an hour if left in the water. When I'm after big snook, I'll slap on a pinfish 5-7 inches long. Those big snook inhale those like nothing. Now this isnt always the case, cause i have caught them on tiny pinfish as well. You want the bait to swim as naturally as possible, because snook are very picky. In sttrong currents hook pinfish up through the mouth and then bring the hook out of their eye. These little guys will swim a long time like that. And in slow current hook them in the back just behind their top fin. This is what I do or snook. And the biggest thing is patience. Your not alone in not catching snook every trip.

Also, you don't say what inlet you have been fishing.

Tide is something else to consider.  Everyone has an opinion, but I believe the first two hours of outgoing seem to be the best.

And, what part of the Indian River do you fish?  It is a pretty big river out there.

Pin fish will totally work but i love my lures and for snook it sounds a lil wierd but a silver shimmery spinner bait makes them go crazy and don't for get to beef up your leader they got some sandpaper mouths!!!

You should try in and round turkey creek.  Also, the sebastian river can hold some really nice snook, and tarpon as well.  Fish the deeper docks, expecially those that have lights.

dude definitely use big ladyfish if ur fishin bridges or docks known for mogan snook otherwise use big pins in the 4-7in range or big brownies(pilchards). these 3 ahve produced the most big snook for me. however, if u use the ladyfish u need to beef up the tackle to big spinners or grouper diggers. good luck go catch a mogan
