What size line and type of line, size/type of hook, length of flurocarbon leader and lb test knot to connect line to leader and to hook, size of reel/line capacity, & rod action should i use for large tarpon over 100 lb fishing and sharks?  thank your for your help eric chastain

Tarpon over 100# and sharks can RUN, so good equiptment, reel capacity and drag are important. I use a Penn Mag 990 spooled with 50# power pro. If the water is clear I use 50# floro, if not, 80# mono as a shock. I like Gamakatsu octupus hooks, sized to match the bait. I keep the shock long enough to allow for 2 - 3 turns on the reel, the length of the rod and 6 - 8 feet to handle the fish boatside. Using a 2 ft leader of hardwire for sharks is a good idea, but it can spook tarpon in clear water. Good luck!
