Ever since I bought my first DOA shrimp I've been smelling for the shrimp injection. Does this stuff ever fade away? Does DOA have a lifespan before fish just aren't attracted to it? I can't smell anything on the shrimp. D.O.A, could you explain this to me?

The DOA lures would work just fine and in many cases just as well even if they had no smell at all. That being said, the scent is not overwhelming (which in many cases is done to make the angler get a warm fuzzy feeling) but a fish is more keen on it than a human would be.

You can make the smell more intense by marinating the shrimp in lunker sauce or injecting that bait with lunker sauce paste throuth the hollowed out hook well in the shrimp.

I have not personally found any scent product to make a difference with any consistency. I have had days were extra scented DOAs work better and days that fresh out of the pack DOA's did better than the extra scented.

Ultimately, reguardless of whether or not you can smell it, the fish can and even without ample scent, they are still Deadly On Anything.

I might as well also say this to save someone else the trouble. If you want a lure that will stink up everything it comes in contact with, you could always go with synthetic dead/cut bait otherwise known as GULP.

I once had a bad day of fishing, but it was still great!

From what I know, DOA shrimp are inpregnated with shrimp enzymes.  They are not coated with a scent.  It is a water released scent trail.

If you want a soft plastic shrimp with scent, go with a Exude or Gulp shrimp, they are deadly!
