After work today I heade out to my buddy's pond to try our hand and some of the brim we have caught before. Jimmy just bought him a nice lightweight fly rod combo and this was his first time using it.

I tied on a nice yellowish nymph I has never tried before but was recommended to me by an ole time orvis flyfisher who now lives his fly life vicariously through me since a stroke took away his ability to do what he loves.

My first cast, this happened.

looks good matt... those ponds of yours look like alot of fun...

Looks like you had a fun evening. Someday I'm going to have to try fly fishing. After I get good with the spinning reel. I probably haven't been fishing more than twenty times but I'm having a great time learning.

I have fished with a spinnig reel for about 20 years, and fly for a couple but not extremely seriously until now. It is a totally different challenge and a totally different satisfaction. Far more satisfying to me than a spinning reel but of course that does not stop me from using the spinning reel.

gj DOA, btw taht popping bug works great! i didnt find the invisible egg er w/e you called it, just tied it on my Power pro, and i took out about 40 feet of line and casted as hard as i could, yes line on ground, and i was able to get it out bout 20 feet, still have sore arm after that, but got a good ol bass!
