| | I like shooting long range, but also the cost of slugs are insane. What is a good shotgun to get where i can use a slug, preferably a sabot slug from Hornady--looks like an Artillery round--and buckshot/birdshot? Which is better, rifled barrel or non-rifled? I got a new job at my college, with more pay and Ive always wanted to get a shotgun for recreational use and also home defense since the pesky kids around here decided to form a gang, 2 gangs actually! This is where the birdshot or buckshot would come into play, because the sabot slug would go through them and out the other side, and i hate the fact of harming someone due to someone else. Any ideas on which type of shotgun to get? Thanks!!!!!!
Arties are best

| | If you're using this as self-defense, you really don't want a bird shot. Look into a pump-action 410 shotgun. Mossberg has one brand new for around 400. Also if you're really thinking your life is in danger, get your concealed permit. Nothing under 9mm. Before you do all of this, please read the rules if you're in school. Don't get a gun if you can't have one where you're at. Either way, Hornaday is the way to go. Awesome self defesne rounds. I keep them loaded in my S&W .357 Those rounds will stick in the bad guy.
