| Last weekend I fished my first tournament and had a discussion with my partner on how much to bring. He believes that you should bring everything including the kitchen sink. I believe that you know what your going for and you should bring just enough of that and that only. Between his tackle box and mine we could stock a small tackle shop. Sometimes I believe that we have so much in a big box that I almost forget what is there. Literally we had 8 different mirro-lures, D.O.A's of every size and color, top water, jigs, bucktails and the list goes on and on.I just want to carry a light load and just one or two of what I know I am going to use. So my question is...Whats in your tackle box? And How do you prepare for a day out on the water?

| I have a lot of stuff in my tackle box, and I should get rid off a lot of it because I dont use half of it. Mostly all I end up fishing with is a few colors and styles of Exudes, Gulp shrimp and jerkbaits, DOA shrimp and CALs in a couple different color, topwaters, Mirrominnow, some jigheads and wormhooks and fluro. Sounds like a lot but it isnt. I have 4 plastic trays in my big soft BPS tackle box. If Im just going out for half the day and for mainly redfish, Ill grab my redfish box, fluro and some hooks and jigheads. But if Im fishing all day, I bring everything because you never know what can happen. |

| | I am a kitchen sink type of guy. I figure it is better to have everything just in case you need it. But, I would suggest organizing things for a tournament based on the possibility of using each lure. Like have a tray or two with what you plan on using and then the rest organized based on like lure type, color, etc. etc. How does the adage go..."An ounce of preparation makes for a pound of cure" or something like that lol That's the type of guy I am...I have everything right where I know its going to be. That way when I need to switch lure real quick for altering situations it saves the time of tearing through everything and then putting it back together...That's just me though.... Austin |
