I live in Cape Coral and May thru July the big tarpon are along our gulf beaches.

Last year I was using an 8' St.Croix Tidemaster 15-40 line wt. spinning rod with an Okuma VS80 and worked pretty well for fish in the 100-150# range.

I just rec'd a Titus Gold TG15S and would like some input on a good rod to put it on for next season.  What length, line wt., brand.  I was thinking about a Loomis Pro Blue but wanted to find out what others are using.

Been using RedBone rods for years. My Tarpon rods have Calcutta 700's with 30# Ande and RedBone 7' BR9887. After last month in the Keys, I am now convienced these rods are unbreakable. My 27 year old daughter dropped a live pinfish in 70' of water. The second it hit the bottom, something BIG nailed it. Well, I had the drags set around 8-10 lbs and she could not hold the rod up. The rod hit the gunnel right about half way down the rod. I'm thinking any second this rod is going to snap in half. After about 2 minutes of this rod doubled over like a 4' rod the fish decided it wanted to go to Miami and I'm sure she made it. Rod has some white gel coat on it but other wise go.

Hope this helps

i like quantum cabo rods medium-heavy action boat rod or heavy action inshore rod both work well for tarpon the boat rod works well for 100 plus pound fish while the inshore work wellon up to 100 once tarpon get that large a fiberglass blend rod is needed usually graphite can only bend so much before it snaps
