Now that tropical storm Fay has come and dumped on us how does everybody feel this will effect the fishing here on the Space Coast??? I know that they are saying that a whole lot of run off and backed up sewage has been flushed into the Indian and Banana River system. They are even worried about the run off being spilled onto the beaches from opening the locks to the inlets as they are trying to lower the water levels in the rivers...
I've never had to deal with this yet and was wondering what happened to the fishing after the storms in o4'.

Fay was much differant than the storms of 04,we had several Strong Storm`s back to back in 04,witch changed alot of shoreline, and changed the bottom also.....for instance,Granny Cove area near Haulover Canal.....it use to be covered with Mud,but sence the storms of 04,the Mud has washed out,and now it is a beautiful Lush Grass Flat, full of life, and I`ve even caught Snook and Small Poon`s in an area that I`ve never seen them in before

Massive Freshwater Dumps like Fay has given us, can be bad at first, the Salt level`s get all out of wack, and some fish go belly up,and the possablity of Alge Bloom`s are much higher.........but I find that anytime the water level in the IRL or Skeeter Lagoon comes up a foot or better in a short time.........The Fishing realy turns on

Last year the water level came up about a foot in just a few day`s,and some of the best fishing for me,was the few weeks that it stayed up,some of the Biggest Trout moved into that area, and everyone was catching 25" to 27" Trout,in an area that was dry a few weeks before

Man, all the rain that we have had dumped down here in South Florida has really put the Peacock bite off.

I go up to my local pond and can eyeball (through the REALLY tanic water) maybe 10 peacocks, including one giant, and throw all my go to lures at them.... no dice.

Well buddy they are Bass and they are in a pond... I'm sure if you find the right lure they'll bight. It's not like they are going anywhere. They have to eat sometime.

My question more pertains to the saltwater inshore fishing... Specifically in the IRL, BR and ML. Since all the added rain and runoff has made huge impact on the waters. I don't know why everyone but Cracker is afraid of putting their 2 cents in on this one. Maybe it's because they don't know? I sure as hell don't!

I guess we'll just have to go fish and find out huh?

I've had much better succes in the Banana River a few days after the storms. I agree with Cracker that if the water rises a foot, IT'S ON.

Went on Sunday in the Banana and the water is way up....   had 3 reds on the boat before 8:30am got a fourth 2 hours later and finished up with 3 jacks and a couple trout too.

There is no clear water out there that I've found, but those suckers are hungry.

the amount of sewage getting into the river hopefully will be minimal and with them leaving the locks open should suck it out of the banana river. most of the flood waters on the mainland are draining into the st johns. so i think it should be fine. but i would say get on them culvert pipes in the refuge or canals goin into the rivers. the snook and tarpon should be all over them.
