IMO you dunk your reel one time and you better get it cleaned up. I have learned that lesson! You pay way too much money for reels that are suppose to last you a lifetime. But I don't anything built nowadays last a "lifetime"....

I have a SOL 3000 spinning reel. It got dunked in the salt water and I thought it would be junk if not cleaned out. I took it completely apart and there was not a drop of water inside. I relubed it and put is back together and it works great.

Very cool. Daiwa seems to make a nice product from the Tierra thru the SOL. I'll either be getting a Daiwa Advantage or SOL for my next reel.

I also have a Tierra and a new model Shimano Stradic 3000 FI. They are all good reels. I don't wash them in a lot of water but more like just lightly wash off the salt and wipe them down.

The line roller on the SOL or Tierra should be greased once in a while to keep it quiet. I also do the same on the Stradic. I use Super Lube grease. Once in a while I also clean my braided line by taking it off the spool and winding it back on while holding it between a rag with a 303 protectant. I know even fly fisherman do that.
