i like to fish it slow like on doa's website and dvd says to i cast it out and let it settle to the bottom into the grass or structure usually with 1/4 oz shrimp this takes about 2 seconds for a foot of water then i pop it off the bottom with a slight pull from my rod then i reel in the slack about one to two turns then i let it settle back to the bottom and pull up again and again i like to fan cast from 9 oclock to 5 oclock or a clock wise fan cast that way i cover alot of water and dont cross line over fish in the area

i tried a doa shrimp be4 and still never caught anything. i use a 1/2 oz shrimp and cast it out pretty far but i guess the current just never lets it get to the bottom and i just see the bait come right back to me..

Great post.  The only thing I'd add is some Carolina Lunker Sauce Saltwater Pro Gel or Berkley Gulp Alive Spray Attractant. Both are priced around $7.25. Reds love extra smell and both of these products do just that to the DOA.

be advised! workin it slow is best, but thats the easiest for puffers to get, those doa r not cheap, i barely use them cause the insane amount of puffers i find where i fish.

Puffers are area specific and do not really mess with us too much over here.  For us its the Pinfish that gives us issues.

in charlotte harbor you cant leave any artificial bait sittin for more than 3 minutes and the pinfish have your doa or gulp. we have 6 inch pinfish that hit our gulp and doa and you can catch them. we havent had a good redfish bite for 2 or 3 years and are pinfish are huge.
