for one, where is the general area u r fishing? but redfish will hold up just about everywhere, if u around tides go for points where the current will flush em out and around, sandbar edges, and oyster bars. and if u r not in a tidal area, such as north irl or mosquito lagoon like where im from, u can find em in almost every flat, if theres bait, nice grass and pot holes mixed in, the reds will be there, u can find em in these kinda flats also in tidal areas. in the winter try dark bottoms, such as mud, it retains warmth longer, then move to hard sand bottoms. this time of year, find the bait and the nice grass flats, u found the reds. they'll eat any live or dead bait found inshore and even off shore. crabs are almost the best, along with live pinfish, mullet, and cut ladyfish.  hope that helps

out going tides are good as bait gets washed out, depth, if u r in a area like me, mainly 3inches to 2ft, and occasionally u find the giants in about 2-3ft cause they r so big they tailin in that.

In my specific area (Sarasota) I fish them on or along side of Oyster Bars in 2 to 4 feet of water around Mullet. I like medium to high tide water for some reason. We catch most our Reds on Gulp 3" Shrimp (all colors) & 1/4 oz. DOA Glow Shrimp.
