I was fishing at port canaveral and hadn't caught anything all day. My last cast I caught a ribbonfish. I had never seen one up to that point and only knew that folks use them for bait offshore fishing. I can't believe that i caught one bouncing a jig on the bottom, i thought that that was just weird. Anyways, to the question is that normal, catching a ribbonfish on light tackle ??? Has anyone caught a ribbonfish before like that ???

When you catch one cut it into strips and get it on the bottom...you are likely to catch more ribbon fish. When I was a kid I use to catch a bunch and sell them to the Snook Nook. Made enough to buy a fishing pole, reel and a cast net...not bad for a 5th grader....of course that was in 1980

A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work !!!

those r gold for offshore anglers. if u go out the night before a tourney, catch alot. u can sell them 2 dollars a fish and make a killing. i always hear of ppl getting them out of the port. every time i go into the port tho, i get in trouble or something goes wrong. so i stay out mainly. lol
