Mike and I made it out of the port yesterday, it was beautiful the water was so calm made for a nice ride out to the 8A reef. We started out by catching a couple of sharks then something really big slammed my bait and took off it took me awile to bring it to the boat and I had caught what I thought was the biggest cuda I had ever seen. It was a challenge and fun for me to get this fish to the boat but we wanted to catch king fish so we moved on over to the pelican flats and started trolling and yea I caught a king fish and if he would have just let me get him to the boat and not taken back off not once but twice then maybe the BIGGEST cuda I have ever seen would not have eaten half of him right in front of my horrified eyes. How disappointed I was to work so hard to get this king to me to have someone else have him for dinner. That sucker totally took the whole back of my fish Mike laughed at me saying my fish was a little short now.
Not totally discouraged back out went another bait, this time Mike fought some fish for a while before he broke off, another disappointment but try and try again. We moved around the flat and pretty soon more hits out of the back of the boat while we were trying bottom fishing. I brought my bait up to find half my pin fish gone but Mike saved the day by catching a nice cobia. Bottom fishing only produced more sharks so we decided to head back in.

We tried the channel markers on the way in with no luck all that was there were those huge baracuda who had stolen from me earlier in the day.

There were some great big sea turtles out there usually we see a few but yesterday I think they were having a turtle convention there were big turtles everywhere, I tried taking pics but didnt get any really good ones they are camera shy. I wish Sam could have been there to take his pictures because it was an awesome sight.

Great report Shelly, to bad you only got half of your king on the boat. At leats you can have half a sandwich, while Mike indulges himself in that fine Cobia.
