Went to Steinhatchee Scalloping Saturday. First spot 1 mile left from the end of the channel on the edge of a bunch of boats. Found a few. Next went a half mile more south. Found more but decided to try some where else. Went North toward keaton beach to try a spot from last year that was very productive. On the way there we found a few boats at a very good looking spot. Water was very clear. No scallops the people were just partying on a sandbar. Went toward planned spot and came across the clearest water I`ve ever seen in my life. Beautiful grass and sand patches. Looked like a good trout spot. We marked but didn`t fish because we had no poles. We saw a big school of Spanish. Very cool! Finally got to spot found two scallops and a bunch of starfish. Not really a good spot there were no other boats. Went back to first spot. Found more than before. Moved about 1 mile southeast. It was getting late we had to leave soon but found a bunch really quick. We ended up leaving about 6:30 with 5 gals of scallops.
