Curious to see what brand digital camera people are using for there outdoor photography and what brand is the most popular?

For simple point and shoot convenience, 3X zoom and waterproof features,  especially needed for my on or near the water activities, I use the Pentax Optio W30.

I mainly use a Nikon now for outdoor photography. I used to have a cannon that was great but it went in the dunk on a canoe trip gone bad, lol. I'm thinking about that new waterproof pentax though.

I used to use my old trusty Konica Minolta Z-1, the 40X Zoom (10X Optical) really helps to bring things up close.   Sadly, at 6 years old and 3.2 MP it is getting a bit dated, but still works great.   My sister liked it, but I recommended the Canon S-1 (? if I recall) which had the same zoom, but also had image stabilization, which is really needed at 10X optical zoom.

I picked up a little 6MP Kodak C613 at my work for about $50 on sale last Christmas, which has become my grab and shoot camera, specially for the boat.....at $50 I won't loose any sleep if it gets wet or bounced around the boat.   It uses standard AA batteries (not the specialty $10 ones or a built in rechargable) and SD cards, which everything I own uses, from MP3 players to the Lowrance chartplotter/recorder on the boat.   I'm very happy with this cheapo, but it only has a 3X optical zoom, which doesn't do much out on the open water.   All the pics I posted of the FLW Tourney were taken with that camera.

Sooner or later I will upgrade to a newer model, but the one I have now keeps getting the job done.   I have worked with some really nice 12 to 20MP cameras in our photo lab, but can't justify the cost when all I do is print 4 X 6in pics (if I even print them at all) and the occasional 8 x 10.

I'm going to have to keep an eye on this thread for any future purchase ideas......
