| I just bought my father-in-law a Stiffy push pole for his new flats boat. Problem is, its white and he would like to make it black. Has anyone ever painted a push pole before? If so, any info would be greatly appreciated. Its fiberglass and I got a great deal on it.

| I made a Push-Poll out of a Wooden Dowl,Painted it with a good Oil Based Yacht Paint that I got at Boater`s World......Big $$$$,but it has lasted 3 yrs now With Fiberglass, make sure you sand it down good, clean it with a Solvent, let dry, then lay the paint on thick.

| I am a gunsmith and I have painted a lot of fiberglass in my day ( stocks) and I have found one of the best paints on the market it cost a little money but I have rifles that have been to hell and back and they still look brand new. you get it at Sherwin williams and it is called POLAN T interior paint don't get the stuff for the outside it flakes off sometimes and it is a 2 part paint ( the paint and a Catilist). you can get it in vertually any color and all you need is a paint sprayer. It takes a little more work but if you are going to do it then do it right.

| | since the pole is fiberglass there is an obvious answer what durable finish is used on almost all fiberglass hulls. gel coat you can purchase a preval sprayer at home depot in the paint dept for about $5 get the larger on of the two they sell. find your gel coat in black or some marine stores sell tint instead mix w/ mekp according to instructions + 3% then add acetate to thin it to about half its original consistency and spray. dont forget to use some acetate and wipe it down and letdry before you spray |
