| I have fished inshore flats for the past few years and never really tried fishing spoons. I know everyone says the golden spoon is a old standby for redfish, so i was wondering what kinds of spoons to fish and how to fish them ?
Thanx for any advice ! ! ! |

| Johnson Sprite, I'm sure Cracker will chime in on this subject. He is the one that got me hooked on spoons. There's just something about the wobble with the sprites that the reds just can't resist. I tend to use the 1/4oz on the flats and 1/2oz in deeper water with current. Either way you can't go wrong with a Johnson Sprite.

| When I first moved to FL I always fished a gold Johnson Sprite. Still is a "go to" lure and its great for beach casting not just the flats. However I have started using the gold Key Largo spoons more. Basiclly the same action but a slightly different finish on the color. Either one Reds will tear em up.

| Cool, i'll definitely try out that Johnson Sprite out ! Oh, before I forget, do I just go with a straight retrieve or twitch it a few times, or any other suggestions on how to reel it in ?
Thanks for the suggestions !!! |

| | Try a twitch in your retrieve and a steady retrieve. Switch it up, either way your bound to catch some fish. Just remember the further the cast the better the chances of that red or trout that are laying low will hit before they spook. Also try not to lob the spoon on your cast, cast more of a line drive and you'll have less of splash. I've also heard of people painting there old spoons black, i never had but some people swear by them, just throwing it out there. good luck
