| | Spent the day with my wife Becca, we headed over to the Port St. John power plants for a day of fishing and relaxation.
Due to the high volume of boats at the output flow we had to anchor up further away then I intended. So we made do and set up camp, Becca got the first fish which made me happy. She hasn't been fishing in a few years and all I wanted her to do is catch some fish, and what do you know, we found the catfish hole from hell.(I HATE CATFISH) Didn't get any pictures of her fighting fish, nor of her catch because everytime I turned around I was releasing or baiting. One the boats left that was closer to the output so we made a bee line for the spot. A few cats later, I looked over to see Bucca doubled over and the drag was screaming. She got pretty excited and regained some line, she didn't expect such a big run like that after catching cats all morning. She fought the fish like a pro....after 3 to 4 minutes of tug-o-war the line went slack...the hook came unglued. The Black Drum have been thick in the area for a few weeks now and how that fish was fighting, it very well may have been a nice Black. She was very happy with the fight but she damn sure wanted that fish...I don't blame her. We headed to the mangroves after that heart breaker in hopes of some Reds or Snook....

One Jack later with no signs of Reds we headed to Rinker Canal looking for some Trout. No Trout, just crap load of Manatees. We had large wake follow a DOA Cal for about 10 to 15 feet and that was it. It was getting late and we knew we had to call it a day and get back to real life being Mommy and Daddy, but we had one last bit of excitement in Rinker. Like I said there were Manatees everywhere....They had no fear of the boat (that always worries me) and they came right up to the boat, I mean inches. They followed us around for 20 minutes or so, so we stopped and snapped a few shots.

We had a great day and have decided, we need a Becca and Austin day more often instead of always being known as Mommy and Daddy.

| | Cracker, I just wish the hook wouldn't have come unglued on what most likely would have been a mogan black drum. But, theres always next time. I'll let you know when and where we'll be fishing this weekend. I will know Thursday or Friday. Later
