Although I wasn't very motivated I did manage to get out on the water by 9am. Much to my dismay I could see people already fishing my hole. I decided I would head there anyway and hope they are decent folks.

After a good paddle I arrived just in time to see slik nik hook into a snook on top water and lime sider hook into a nice red (guys if i have your names mixed up forgive me) Not to be out done I started casting and soon hooked into a huge pinfish...and another pinfish.
Now these two are hooking into snook reds and trout beside me and here I am catching pinfish. Now I am really unmotivated.

Soon my spot paid off and I was back in the hunt. A top water strike had a red flying out of the water to take my bait. A short fight and a quick picture and this fish was swimming free of me.

Another red a bit later took a golden bream cal. These fish were not large but they had fight to them and they were all very well fed.

Now I am thinking I can find trout here and then go in search of snook. I need the trout first. Here is one. I am upset that the trout didn't pose nicely. Instead of sticking his tail out straight he curved it back towards me making theis 23" trout look much smaller. He fought like a red in that he never came up to the surface shaking his head like many trout do.

Even the smaller trout were feisty and fun to catch. This one took many strikes at the bait before becoming impaled upon the hooks. The fun part was the water was clear enough to watch him turn and come back on each strike.

Unfortunately thats the end of pictures but not the days adventure. I caught many more trout and a few more reds.

At the end of the day I worked some mangroves along a nice cut and found a few snook. Neither wanted to hang out in the water while I got the camera ready. They both swam off alive and picture less. They both completed a slam which was 2 for the day. Nothing major but 2 slams none the less.

An incredible day on the water certain to say. I think my final count was 2 pinfish ( ) 9 trout, 5 reds and 2 snook. A few unknowns in there as well.

Sweet! The topwater was working huh? I actually wanted to throw topwater yesterday but much to my embarassment, I has left my topwater tackle tray at home

The shallows were alive with baitfish which means game on for the skitterwalks!!!

Those reds sure were fat!

I once had a bad day of fishing, but it was still great!

VLAP,

Did you and I meet one day in Shiloh Marsh. I was driving a gold F-150 and you were dragging your kayak out of the water and we talked for a bit. Big guy< .  I want so bad to get a kayak and  now I know it is possible to find one that will hold my 300llb body, I just wanna try one out for a while, maybe with an experienced user before  I commit.

Chris

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters.

Where is Shiloh Marsh?

Most kayak shops will let you try before you buy. Two boats for a big guy to look at are the ocean kayak Big Game and the Malibu Kayaks Extream or X-factor...

These kayaks will float you easy and are very stable...
