Many of you have had to deal with this before, with hurricanes and floods.

Last week, the torrential rains caused Doug's house to flood.  Sometimes, I think it would be easier to lose everything, than to have to dig through and figure out WHAT you have lost.

All of Doug's things, and most of my things were in there, and so much was stored in the room that was hardest hit.  Sure will make division of property easier, I suppose.

Not looking for sympathy...more like pearls of wisdom, I guess.

No life was lost. That above all things is what matters. Material possessions can be replaced.

I agree, no one was bodily injured and no life was lost but still the same, it's more shtuff that you have to deal with in your already hectic world.  Sometimes it seems as if, "What else are you going to deal me?"

What I usually do when I become overwhelmed with life's wonderful challenges, I just "let go."  You can't control things at this point Steph, it's out of your hands.  I usually (in a twisted-sick-sorta-way) look for humor, irony, wisdom, or some message that might be in the situation.  It's tough, but sometimes on the flip side its actually quite freeing to know that you can't control a thing.

Having experienced some of the most difficult things in my life over the past few years (some of which I have never shared with y'all) and being the "control freak-perfectionist-borderline OCD idiot" that I am getting to a point where I had no answers, no solutions and no control was a blessing in disguise.  I realized and learned how to let go and just let it play itself out.  That is what was supposed to happen - FOR WHATEVER REASON - that was what was supposed to happen.  So, I basically took the rest of the day off or checked out!  (figuratively speaking)

Have you ever seen that movie with Tom Hanks and Shelly What'shername (played "Diane" on Cheers) called Money Pit?  At one point they had sunk all of their money into this hell house and Tom Hanks was going to take a bath.  Well, the tub fell through the floor all the way to the first floor of the house . . . he stood peering down through the bathtub hole in the floor and laughed hysterically at the despair of the situation.  I've had many moments like that and will probably have more in this lifetime.

I wish you strength and peace as you sort through, clean up and move on from this mess!!

Yeah,

exactly what Trice said, only to add that I too am somewhat of a control freak myself, so if there is anyway at all I can control something I will. I ask myself, "how can I be totally responsible for this?"..whatever it is. Don't confuse it with BLAME, that does no good at all, but responsibility on the other hand gives you ALL of the control, and with control comes the power to fix it. For example if you're a renter and your landlord refuses to fix your dripping faucet, you can either A) hold him completely responsible, and maybe NEVER get it fixed, or B) take full responsibility and put out 15 cents for a new washer and just fix it. I myself would rather own the responsibility and have it fixed than to be off the hook by blaming him and living with the problem. Also when it comes to having your feelings hurt, I look at it the way Rosa Parks did, she said, "it isn't what you call me, but what I answer to".

If you can't handle something, then crack open a cold one, sit in the grass, look up at the sky like you used to before you grew up and created all these problems for yourself, and just take a break and be a kid again LOL.

Hope you get it all sorted out.

Steph,

Give me a call....sounds like a fishing trip might be in order.   I still have most of Steve's gear in my garage if he's wondering where it went, lol....guess he's not fishing much either huh?

Thank you, guys!  I really needed the boost up.

It seems kind of pale, now, though, in light of the news about Bones!

Chum, fishing sounds DIVINE!  I'll have to get with you as to when.  I had to take sick leave to help with the recovery effort.

The bay looks horrible after all the rain, so it might be better to give it a few days to clear out.   Trim-Tab and I couldn't even find a pinfish inside of the pass.....water was dark red from all the tanic run-off, and it looks like the influx of fresh water pushed everything off the flats.

Let me know your schedule, we can hit the pass or the bridge and try for some bulls again.

Yeah,  I saw that, too.  My Mom was here, the week of the flood, and I took her to Parker.  What a let-down, to take her to one of my special places, and have the water look so nasty!!

I'm off Wed and Thursday, this week. If nothing else, I'll give you a call or come over, and get caught up.  I understand there is plenty to catch up on!  hehehe

Steph : That is a real kick in the teeth, loosing all those Memories,I know how much that hurts,it happened to me twice up in Maine, not from Flood`s,but from the Snow Colapsing my Shed, then melting before I could get it all out......but I think loosing some of my Very Old Pictures of family member`s that are no longer with us was the worst....TV`s,Stereo`s, Paperwork, all can be replaced, the main thing is that your Family is Safe and Sound.

Very Sorry to hear so much was lost, and I think Chumhead is right,You Need A Fishing Trip

Sorry I didn`t respond to this sooner, but I`ve had my hands full the past few day`s
