My plans for superbowl sunday were simple. Catch fish, cook fish, drink beer and watch football. Well you goto love it when a plan works out.
We launched as the sun rose and fog rolled in. I got to the launch just before the fog and had a moment to see the sun and the fog. We were quickly enveloped in a thick fog which just got thicker over a few hours.
Here I am giving Jeff some grief over the fact he had live bait.

We paddled off into the fog and soon we could not see anything except the fog. If not for my gps I would have felt a lil worried.

I soon started catching some small trout but since we were looking for a fish dinner we left that area in search of bigger game.
Well I found some bigger fish but not quite what I expected. As I paddled over a flat I spotted a fish laying belly up on the bottom. Something was sticking out of its mouth. Turned out to be a good size trout with a catfish stuck in its mouth. It was too big to swallow so the trout tried to cough it back up. The catfishes spines on its fins went through the trouts mouth and head, leaving it permanently stuck.
We pulled the trout out of the water and clipped the spines of the catfish and got it out of the trouts mouth. Amazingly the catfish swam off and the trout was still partially alive. We tried to revive it but the trout was to far gone for help. Into the cooler it went.

Finally around 11 am the fog started to break and we could see our destination island through the fog. We couldn't head that way until we could see it since it did not show on the gps nor had it been marked. It is now.

Finally the fog moved off bringing in good sunshine

After working these flats we moved on to a different launch with a quick pitstop for a burger. We wanted some sheephead and black drum for the fryer. We took the boats to a different area and relaunched. A long paddle to some docks we put the live bait to work. Get close to a big dock and pitch that shrimp way up under and hold on. After losing a few shrimp to smaller mouths my line went tight and I was quickly dragged up against the dock. A hard fight and many drag screaming runs later I landed a nice black drum (6lb+) Next cast I was able to get ahold of a nice redfish.
Jeff finally got past the lil fish and hooked into a nice black drum as well. After a good tug o war he landed this nice drum who was also destine for the fryer.

Great pics dude and if anyone ever questioned the aggressiveness of trout...that pic with the catfish stuck in his mouth should answer it.

Man you even emailed me about this trip and I missed the report! Why do you even stay my friend? LOL. This is a nice report bro!

I am still trying to sell the gym! It looks like it will be soon. When it does go, I plan on doing some INSANE kayak fishing with you for days!!!!!! Get Ready!

I once had a bad day of fishing, but it was still great!

Let me know in advance and we will plan something out including freshwater lakes and plenty of salt water kayaking and wading. Maybe a trip or 3 to blackburn
I should be able to get some vacation time.
