I haven't caught a whole lot of snook, but the ones I have caught were off live shrimp unweighted, skipped under mangroves. I let it sink to the bottom and give it a twitch every couple seconds, like a fleeing shrimp. The Exude Shrimp in natural pattern with lunker sauce works good when live shrimp aren't available or are on the small side.

Good Luck

well over where i live in titusville on the space coast we dont get much snook except in the summers but ive learned they r very very smart fish and know how to break u off u around structure use a lil heavier tackle and leader and when ur using a leader make sure its florocarbon it will fool them snooks and when u can free line the bait or lure by using just a line to line not and when using a sinker use a longer leader

near pine island sound the snook will eat shrimp, threads, artificial, almost everything you throw at them that is live the best bait is fingure size white bait if you can get it.

find ambush points around docks, mangroves, and oyster bars. you can use almost any artifical you want you can use shrimp, pinfish, white bait, silver trout, and grunts are good to. and you have to know where they move at different water temps. like in winter they move up rivers, and  canals things like that, in the summer time the move to beaches and passes, and in the spring and fall they are in between on the flats.

summer is by far the easiest time to catch them, just go to the beach with some live shrimp or perferably net some green backs and just free line them in the trough, white jigs and green/white flies work great too

for this time of year like said before canals, docks and mangroves are your best bet

Find a bridge that has a nice shadow line at night. Find the tide that brings bait from the lighted part to the dark part. 7 out of 10 hits will be right on the shadow line. My favorite lures are Xrap and DOA Shrimp

A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work !!!

JaB : Instead of us telling you how we do it......Let`s get some Info from you,and see if we can Fine Tune the steps your already taking, because we all live in differant parts of the state, and we all fish for them a bit differant because of it.

Lets start with....

Do you fish from a Boat or from Shore ?

Bait or Arties ?

Your Rod & Reel Size, along with Line Size,Weight`s if you use any,Size Hook,or typical Size of Lure ?

Backcountry,Inlets or Passes, or Surf ?

Night or Daytime Fishing ?

How Many Times a Day,Week,or Month do you fish for them ?

The Answers to some of these Question`s will help us,help you, Fine Tune for the area you fish the most

Myself.....I love a Fast Flowing Inlet,Early June Night,Full Moon,throwing a 1 3/4oz ,Red-White-Chartruce Buck-Tail from the jetty......there are probly more Productive way`s to catch them,but I just love the constant movement,bouncing and feeling the bottom,then the massive On-The-Run Strike....There is No Doubt.........SNOOK ON
