| | i have been told many times that drenching my reels and rods with water can be detrimental to my equipment. so i have taken the advice and have started misting my rods and reels and the using a spray such as reel magic (only i use super slick stuff becasue it is cheeper). while i am spraying my rods i keep my leaders on and now i wonder if i can blame my unproductive fishing days on the spray left on my leaders. does the spray stick to my leader weaking it or even giving it a bad smell causing fish to leave. please reply. i dont want to be hurting my fishing by something as stupid as a spray. thanks, nick |

| I would not spray line or leader with anything that could cause an unnatural scent. I think you are over doing it with the cleaning in my opinion. Rinse off with fresh water and dry....keep it simple. When I fish offshore we rinse everything with fresh water then dry with a shammy and leave it at that. These combos probably go for $500 each and that is all we do. In my opinion you are over doing it. When I fish inshore this is my technique.....I fish...then throw it in the back of my truck then fish again and do the same....have had no problems.

| I rinse my stuff wth fresh water when I come home and use to wipe everything down wth WD-40 and never had issues since WD-40 contains "fish oil".........now, I wipe my rods and reels down wth Pledge and still no issues wth catching fish or degradtion of the (ande) mono

| They sell line conditioner at most of the outdoor shops. I have never used the stuff, so not sure if it does any good. I have use a salt away spray that doesn't do any better than a good bath and wipe down. I've got in the habit of wiping all my rods and reels down with pledge and the water sheets off very quickly. | | i always use fresh water to rinse my reels off then hand dry them then spray them and my line with blakemore reel magic it is a silicon base spray doesnt it fishing helps protect line, reels and rods from uv rays and salt spray. |
