| Was curious on anyone's experience with replacing fuel tank on a flats skiff. I have a 1998 19 Redfisher (Hewes). Was having engine trouble that after much $$$ spent, discovered that fuel and possibly check valve on fuel tank was bad. Probably from saltwater intrusion. Anyway, running great for months on surrogate 18 gal tank laying on floor. Need to take action to permanently repair problem. From what I was told by a friend, there is probably a checkball valve of sort on tank sending unit. This may be current problem along with somehow clearing tank of all unwanted visitors. There is a small access plate in floor directly above what I believe to be sending unit. Circular cap with pos/neg leads and 5-6 mounting screws. Pretty much only access to tank. Can't see actual fuel line, suspect is close by but hidden by foam filler. Anyone ever experience this situation and live to tell about? Thanks In Advance. |

| | Thanks for the reply, and good luck to you. I would definitely try running fuel from a surrogate tank temporarily with its own water separator to assure yourself of origin off problem. This helped me greatly and most important............kept me fishing! |
