I picked up Flats Stalker today and hit a few protected areas to escape the 30mph winds and it finally happened.....Joe catches something other than a pinfish or catfish from my boat!!!!

He makes one cast to where I told him I had seen some fish earlier, and he hooks into this guy...the first redfish on the new boat....

We then moved to a spot that it turns out we both tend to fish, and he catches the first grouper on the new boat......

You've gotta remember, Flats Stalker has the same problem I have of making fish look small....both fish were about 18 inches.   Just as the sun starts to set on the horizon, he hooks into another fish that takes him for a ride.....then he gets it up to the boat to see a legal grouper....then the groupers teeth finally get thru the 20 lb leader and he was gone.

I caught my first trout from the new boat, and a flounder along with a bunch of catfish I can't seem to get away from.   All in all, it was a good day considering small craft advisories, white caps, and swinging back and forth on the anchor line in stiff winds.   Tomorrow we might try it again and get serious with some decent baits....

Darn fine afternoon on the water there chum. Look forward to some more. Wife is actually *OFF* tomorrow... so i'll check with you when you get off of work and try to have a plan with weather etc.

Bait Check:

everything we had.... err.. wait...

Grouper coughed down live pinfish, the Redfish I was trying out some artis I hadn't gotten a chance to throw yet. Berkley Powerbait Saltwater 3" Swimming Pogy in the Pilchard pattern. Tossed it out, cranked the reel three times, twitched it out of the grass, cranked the reel about 4 more times and *WHAP!* fish on!.
