Hey guys, I was wondering what you preferred for snook and tarpon fishing at night. I'm mainly fishing in backwaters and brackish water. Ive been trying top water, suspending, and some jigs but nothing seems to be very effective. Any help would be apreciated

nothing beats a red/white windcheater or a bucktail for snook at night but it depends on what kind of current your fishing... i dont really know about backwater fishing though...

I do alot of night fishing for snook and tarpon in the everglades backwaters going to naples from miami off krome ave., I like to use big plugs that create alot of ruckus... Maybe topwaters like the new rapala x-rap walk works at night but the bite isnt consistent but youll get something big... Try a jointed size 13 x-rap for snook aand tarpon and you'll have some luck and also the doa shripm works well also, Try lunker sause for smell and that will atract fish but snappers the most... Just remember at some fish use sight but mostly vibration, sound, and smell if you use those senses you'll have some big dogs on. Goodluck!

Thanks ive been trying a yozuri pinns minnow and been getting a good bite on it. I think ive been using the wrong color lures though. I mostly fish in cloudy rootbeer color water and ive been told that I need darker colored lures for dark water is that true?

Anything gold and brown should work!

But the best thing you san use is a 1/16 ounce jighead with a rootbeer chartruse paddle doa cal!

My four favorite Snook plugs for night time are;

1) Yozuri Crystal Minnow Floater Black back about 5in

2) Bomber long A Chartruese floater about 6in

3) X-Rap Olive green back suspending about 4.5 in

4) Maverick Golden Eye Chartruese deeper diving about 4in

Honorable mentions

* 3D Minnow Yozuri about 5 in Chartruese

*Good Old White Bucktail 1/2 oz

Thanks, Ill have to give those a try.  Does that apply to snook lights as well cause ive tried lots of lures under lights but the only one that seems to work is the yozuri pinns minnow in the glass minnow color.
