| Took the day off of work and went fishing at Boca Grande yesterday (6-7-6). The water was crystal. That scares me some times and can really slow down the bite but not today. The tide was ripping out to the gulf and everything was pop'n. Caught two really nice Snook, one at 30in and the other at about 26...lost a larger one...hit my Yozuri Tobimaru Greenback right when it hit the water...rolled my lure and the threw it! It was cool to watch but I couldn't get her to hit it after that. Caught one real nice Grouper at 20in, man they are strong. Using the same Yozuri...bouncing it off the rocks on a jetty. Also caught several Spanish Ms and several Blue runner Jacks...a bait ball passed by and the Jacks where having lunch...tied on a silver spoon and wham! Six in ten minutes.
All in all a great day.The fishing was great and as a bonus I saw several Manatees, one Dolphin that chased down dinner and tossed it before munching...man they are SUPER FAST! And one small Hammerhead that was chasing a minnow and jumped out of the water while trying to get it...they're pretty fast too. Birds, blue sky, the sound of the waves...
Nothing like being on the water to refresh your soul!

| | Snookstalker, that is true...seen it, done it. BIG JEW FISH! Using ladyfish or chunks of ray. Three weeks ago I watched a boat pull in 6, all several 100 pounds...it use to be a secret but I guess that was then...all you need is big hooks, big line, big bait and somebody to hold on to you! Good luck. |
