| First of all I'll admit that I'm not a "local" fisherman of Florida. I actually live in Kentucky but have a place in Ft. Myers. It's sad to say but I've been to busy to make it down for any amount of time this year and do any fishing. Made it down back in April for a week and fished only once. I usually spend at least 3-4 months total during the year and do a lot of fishing just hasn't been possible this year until now. I'll be heading down for a 2 month stretch come June 10th and I would really appreciate any fishing info regarding the Ft. Myers, Sanibel area. Figure the snook should really be turning on but if anyone has anything else to share it would be great. I thought I would ask the pros on this forum first before I try anywhere else. I really mean that you guys are very professional and informative and you can't find that anywhere else on the net. Keep up the good work.

| | Welcome to AF Medicine Man. I have been on here for a few years for the very reasons you mentioned! This is a family oriented type group and of course we are not perfect (any of us) but at least we try to be respectful and helpeful to each other. We are also always thrilled to have new people join us, especially people like you. That being said, unfortunately I do not fish the area yo are inquiring about however I am sure somone here does and will help you shortly. I do know that the snook bite is going on. If can hook em as far north as I fish, I am sure you will too. I have tried many lures but the most action I have seen has come from a DOA terroreyes (rootbeer or gold glitter black back). I might as well say it before somone else does (Like a true family, you can't get away with nothin), I have not landed a snook yet... my luck is horrible, I can hook em good, but then I get singed off against a piling or cut by a gill plate. But if you want to know about reds and BIG TROUT, hee hee hee, that I have tad more luck with. Once Again, WELCOME!
I once had a bad day of fishing, but it was still great! CHB: the few, the proud, the chosen |

| | Hey thanks DOA, it's great to be able to talk with so many people that have the same interests as myself. By interests I mean fishin' of coarse. Should have let people know what kind of equipment I use. I've got 3 Penn 430's and 2 440's reels all on St. Croix rods spooled up with power pro. Throw a lot of rootbeer terroreyes and glow shrimp but I'll mix in live bait also. Got a 23ft Baystealth with a 200 Yamaha so I do most of my fishing in my boat. Snookstalker, thanks for the info. Been exactly where you're talking about. I usually head up to redfish pass and catch some really nice snook drifting with the incoming and outgoing tides. You brought up blind pass got a good story. Was fishing there about 10-12 years ago before it got filled in with sand, standing in ankle deep water casting in the outgoing current. The sand I was standing in just sank out from under me and I was drug under the water. When I came up I was 200 yards from the beach. Well I just went with the tide and took my time to get back to the beach. Make a long story short when I got back to the beach I was exhausted and when I reeled my line in I had a snook on that was only about 14in long. Took it off let it go and it just sat there in the surf beside me no doubt tired also. But when I was rested and got up he swam off as if to say "thanks that was a heck of a ride." Fished there many times since then but with respect for the water.
