| | My brother just got an ocean kayak scrambler angler edition. Now that i know what it looks like and the features, i was wonderin if a ocean kayak caper or drifter would be a good first kayak? Thnks |

| I would recommend the Drifter over the Caper because it is a little longer and more stable. Capers are good for kids and smaller paddlers.

| | I think you would be better off with a Prowler 13. The Caper or Drifter would work and they are wide and more stable than the Prowler 13 but wide an short means stable and slow. And the hull design on both the Caper adn Drifter blows around and spins liek a top. The Prowler 13 tracks much better adn is much easier and faster to paddle through teh winds and current. Another option which has good tacking and even better stability is the Prowler Big Game. It is more expensive than either of the others but stability is top notch. You can stand and sight fish with no problem. I own a Drifter, Prowler 13 and a Big Game. My Drifter is my river ride. Very stable in the shoals on the rivers. My Prowler 13 is my "paddle up" ride and my inshore ride most of the time. My Prowler Big Game is my flat water ride. It is loaded with GPS/fishfinder included. |
