after 36 hours of work in 3 days.. most of that in 2 i decided that i need a lil rest... and since yesterday was spent catching up on laundry (6 loads) and house work.... today was my day of rest... i got up real slow and around 8(or 9) finally dragged my bum outta the house and went fishing.. i wasnt up for alot of work so i got some live shrimp to feed the pinfish with.... ok looking at a photo it must have been 8 or a lil after...

so i got the shrimp and proceded to feed the pins for a while with a few good strikes but no hookups.. finally the old bayside popper ( if you havent tried one do so) goes ripping under the water.. i reel in set hook and the fight is one... at times i am asking myself if i am hooked on the bottom cause i dont feel a fish and am just pulling hard... finally i get the bottom close to me and it isnt happy to be there so it rips off line and i realize its a red and not the bottom.. the reel i was using had to be respooled and i had some mono laying around so it was on there... feels so wierd using it after years of power pro.. so that red rips line off... i fight back it rips more off.. from the pressure i feel opn the pole i get thinking maybe the drag is too tight.. so i let some out.. makes things a lil easier and since there was no structure nearby aside from the rocks i was standing on i didnt worry about it running...
well this fish fought like a champ... i though i had a serious fish on hand... after a good fight it flaots belly up to me.... its a 20"+ red... maybe 20-24... in that range... i didnt measure or take pict since this spot was hit hard by red tide last year i dont want to kill another fish...
i quickly get the fish off the hook and started to revive it... it took the treatment well and showed signs of life... so while reviving with one hand i got the camera out with the other...
i went to take a pict just as the red decided she was back and full of life... so i took a pict of NOTHING!!! at least the water was clear...
i did manage to get some ladys on the line after that but no more reds....
after the pins ate the rest of my 1 dozen shrimp i drove out to the beach... took a walk on lido looking for signs of life... there was tons of life out there just not what i wanted to see... bait was very plentiful, mullet pushing water everywhere, and many whiting laying still on the ground.... lots of life out there... what i didnt see was what i was looking for... snook... i cant believe at this time of the year there are no snook on the beach... i should have seen some i would think,,. some snorklers did mention seeing some snook and jacks... but not at that time... a few miles of beach only resulted in some nice eye candy... but at least i saw bait... actually the bait was out there in numbers i havent seen in years...
so that was my day... 1 good fish to speak of... actually i ahve to give that red some credit... it fought till it had nothing left and fought like a much bigger brother... i was happy to see it swim away safe and sound...

as i said i tied to take the pict but reviving it was much more importent... twas a good red....
