gotta go with the ugly stik just because of the generous price and dependability; unfortunately, i slammed mine on a garage wall and broke the top eyelet, i'm gonna pick a new one up tomorrow

I have learned that if really depends on the lure I am casting. A good rod for a 5/8 jig on a casting rod is not necessarily a effective rod for a 6" Bomber. Any under $ 80 that works with my setup I like. Mostly graphite 6 1/2 and 7', 20 lbs powerpro.

As much as I wanted to get some GLoomis rods the money part played an issue.  I've found that the Shimano Teramar rods are very good rods for their price.  I do own a Shimano Calcutta rod which has become my favorite, go-to, rod!  Handles large snook and reds with no problems....

7'6 shikari blank fuji titanium guides, way cheaper than a loomis.. roughly a buck fifty, great action.. with a okuma vs reel.. this is my weapon of choice..

Guess you already know what I put my vote for.

I've gone thru all that have been mentioned...liked alot of them, but the WM is still the one for me! Not just the sig series either. The whole essential line of rods by WM are good.

I have to say that my very favorite rod for mogan snook under the dock lights is hands down the Wright McGill 8ft rod with 40lb powerpro. The tip has great touch but the backbone and grit of this rod is awesome! I bought it before Blair had his signature series and I was wowed. When I use this rod I have the confidence that I can win the tug of war!

The Wright Mcgill is better than advertised. Also, the warranty and service is better than ANY other rod out there. I broke a tip and they sent me a new rod. Very light and comfortable. Awesome sensitivity, Great backbone. Have tamed 40 lb dolphin and 30 lb permit with these rods. Great rods from Great people. You can get a $40 ugly stick and I still have mine, but the difference is obvious and there is really no comparision for a long term rod. The WM is also MUCH lighter
