My vote goes for Shimanos.  I have both the Teramar and the Crucial series rods and love them both.  The Teramars are graphite, but bend almost like an Ugly Stick, yet they are much lighter and more sensitive than Ugly Stiks.  The Crucial is one of the lightest, most sensitive spinning rods I've tried yet.  It compares to a GLoomis that is twice the price.

The best part is all Shimanos have an over-the-counter lifetime warranty.  No having to pay shipping or a service charge to get a new rod.  Just take it down to your local tackle shop that carries them and they hand you a new one!

I like the rods Shimano makes. Very sleek looking and great feel.

They also have top notch cork grips. I own two Teramars and one Carbomax. Each costs under 100$.

i like st croix and g loomis but my favorite custom rod would have to be a herrington but sadly they don't make them any more if you got the right people to make them they never brake

No doubt the ugly stik, i have the ugly stik lite pro and it has been a success, my friend has the same rod and has caught over 30 pound tarpon and snook with it. It is durable, reliable, and virtually indistructable...
