Yes, I am looking at the Curado.  I prefer a bait casting or convention reel over a spinning reel.

I think you may want to lighten up if you are going to be throwing artificials.

A 2500 series reel on a 7' rod is a good all around combo for the flats.

10 to 15 lb braid is all you need.

I have owened the greenwater rods and personaly I think there are rods on the market that are just as good if not better in that price range or better.

Actually I would buy another gl2 before I would buy a green water.

Right now my favorite set up I have is a 2500 diawa exceller on a 7' glx. The rod is a little pricey at 360 new but I think the reel is a very good deal at 60 bucks. The retrieve on the reel is a little slow but I got used to it over time.

Its a little soon for me to say how well the reel will hold up as Ive only had it about 6 months. At this point I wouldnt hesitate to buy another.

I dont know any thing at all about the Blair Wiggins rods but I would like to check them out.

Which GLX are you using?  What type of waters are you fishing in?

Here is a good comparison of line tests.

This was taken from the following article:

I use Power pro for my surf setups, but I hear that Fireline is great for the lighter stuff.

Not to discredit tests like that you posted but I just go by what I have experienced. Right now, the power pro is my go to because it does not let me down. I agree with Maha as well that your leader is where your break offs occur almost all the time. I can put 25# to 30# Mono or Fluoro leader on to 10# power pro and the leader almost always breaks first.

You can look up tests and stats all you want but it is only in real time, real fishing experience that you find what is truth.

I once had a bad day of fishing, but it was still great!

7' to 7.5' light-med. light rod with a 2500 series spin. Tie on some 10# PowerPro and go to town. You will get long cast. Hint, choose a rod with ss or coated guides. Choose a reel with instant anti reverse. Name brand not needed. If you are hitting a lot of docks, go 20-30# PowerPro.

There is some really good advice here I'm only here to suggest a reel and rod that won't break your bank and are very reliable. I use a shimono stradic 2500 reel which is about 120 depending where you go, but its really nice.

The rod I use its a hurricane redbone 7' med light which its 90 bucks at sports authority only place I've ever seen them. But i don't think i will ever use another rod, this rod is outstanding for the price it may not be as good at the inshore slam series but I think it would give it a run for its money.

dude, if blairs using um, im buyin um...I cant spend as much time on the water as Blair and Tadd...so i value their opinion alot on rods...the mcgill rods with kevlar sound great, and i use the daiwa tierra series spin reels...just like everyone said - if your fishing the shallows your not gonna need anything more than 10 pp with 20 fluoro leader...and kemme tell ya, daiwa did it right with the new hardbodys line of reels. As soon as i can trade out my star rods, the new setup with the mcgill/daiwa will be TITTY TITE
