My best guess is that if there are large schools of bait, these grouper take advantage of the opportunity to put on the feed bag before winter. Best times here are late Aug thru mid-Oct.</P><P>It is not uncommon to catch trout, redfish and grouper all out of this same spot, a small depression in the bottom that is not much larger than about 25 to 30 feet in diameter. Get some larger mullet or white bait and try out that spot late in the day, the last 3 hours of daylight have been the best times here.
