You will find mixed results depending on the time of day, water clarity, moon, seasonality of the species, etc. The thing that I like about reefs is, if it's a good day, you never know what to expect. Cobia (love live bait), baracuda, grouper, mackeral, snapper, you name it. Bring a variety of baits. Some days gulp shrimp work great, other days might be squid, live shrimp, or sardines, etc. Chum always works good to corral some action. Don't be afraid to try some lures either. Cuda tubes are a blast on the right day. When in doubt, before you leave, troll a proven local lure over or around the reef at 5 knots. We've landed many fish this way on days all the boats on the reef were catching nothing. I like the offshore kit lures Angler Systems recommends for the Fl coast. Be patient and have fun!

RT

RE: Artificial Reefs

oh yes. any under water structure holds fish. i fished a sunk barge 15 miles out, had giant mangrove, AJ's, barracuda all over and giant goliaths eating the snapper as we reeled em up. once the bait finds the structure they'll hold there along with the bigger fish.

RE: Artificial Reefs

Yes they have fish.....plenty of fish.....I know there is a concrete reef off our coast that is a haven for AJ's.......try a butterfly jig on them

Artificial Reefs

Do artificial reefs really have good fish like AJs cobia grouper or snapper?
What kind should i fish?
