We catch them in the bay in Orange Beach, AL all the time. I've seen those before, and I know this wasn't a gar. It could be a lizard fish, but i've never seen one before so I wouldn't be able to compare. And I am fishing in the Panhandle in the Chotawhatchee Bay. And I doubt it matters, but I was using a Rapala Subwalk 9.

RE: Yet another, new guy!

Possibly a lizard Fish?

RE: Yet another, new guy!

I have seen Gar in the Carrabelle river which is Brackish water. And where were you fishing?<IMG style="WIDTH: 236px; HEIGHT: 174px" height=572 src="http://animals.nationalgeographic.com/staticfiles/NGS/Shared/StaticFiles/animals/images/800/gar.jpg" width=763>Did it look like this? Or did it have the same shape as that fish? If it had the same shape as that it was a gar.

RE: Yet another, new guy!

Never heard of such a thing. Where are you fishing...what part of the state?

Yet another, new guy!

I was fishing on my lunch break earlier today, and i caught a little fish. Or at least i think it was a fish. It was only about 6 inches long, it had brown and white spot patterns on it's back, and along the sides too. It had a nose that came to a point, much like a 'cuda. And this thing had a mouth FULL of teeth. And my first thought is that it was indeed a barracuda, maybe just a juvenile? Have any of you guys heard of anything like this?
