As long as you know the TYPE of glue, you can easily do it yourself, but I let the experts do it, and if they get it wrong, they'll do it again for free until they get it right. Plus they are better at making that transition from metal to glass (clear resin) rather than it looking like it was just smashed on there leaving a harsh butt end and an overflow of glue everywhere. Just my opinion from experiences I've had.

you can buy all type of guides at cabelas or mud hole tackle and the glue etc both companies carry everything you need to build rods with or repair them.

Thanks! Since its that cheap to get it done then I'm just gonna take it to the shop. From the looks of these W&M rods, the way they're designed, I think they use some kind of clear coating to hold the guides together instead of the common glue on cap guides. I'm in Jacksonville,FL so I guess the best shop for me would by Strike Zone.

Penter,

I would take it to a shop, they can better match it up with the old one, besides there are two different types of glue that could have been used,and you want the shop to know which one to use for the repair. If you use the wrong kind, it will slip after a few times out. Let them take the responsibility. I had one fixed at "Whites tackle" here in Fort. pierce and they done a great job, and fast too. I literally couldn't tell that it was ever replaced. As far as guides go, Fuji guides are the absolute best in my opinion. They are strong, yet flexible and rarely have the inserts come loose. By the way the repair at the shop was only like $6.00 well worth it.

Alright. Is there a certain brand I should get? I want to place it with a really good guide and not a cheapo one. I spent $130 on my rod so I want to keep it working like $130 rod.

Get some stainless steel tips and most will come with the glue, just heat it up and it pulls right off. Be sure not to burn the glass/rod tip.

Well I've seen those replacement guide that they sell but I figured there would be another way to fix it. Should I fix it myself or can a shop fix it?

Normally its easier to replace the tip vers trying to reinsert the ring

Everybody, my guide tip on my 7ft W&M Blair rod is broke.:crying: Not broke off but the inner silicone ring popped out. How can I fix this? Help please!!!
