Yeah I know Tom,

but there are so many days where I can't even seem to feel human, much less frisky, so when I am out of pain, I go all out trying to catch up with everything. In the process I do too much, but like someone once said, "the only way to know how far you should go sometimes, is to go too far" LOL. So you want to come down?, Cool with us, we haven't seen you since when? Oh I believe it was when we came up for Thanksgiving. That Jetty run sounds great, I was going to try to make it out there this week anyway, maybe we'll hold off til the weekend, and all go together.It will give us a chance to pop off some pics of those Jetty lights at night. Like you said though, they don't look very fish friendly, but we'll see.

Well, we hope to see you and Rena soon, be very carefull out on I-95, visability has been pretty poor due to smoke from the wildfires. Anyway keep us informed,....you're always welcome here, you know that.

LMAO!!!!! EHEMMMM,...I mean, that must have hurt. Well maybe if you try repeating that kind of stuff again this year, the rest of us will have a chance to catch a few ourselves :D . Seriously though we're all looking forward to seein you again and I'm kinda anxious to see if you have improved even more with that fly rod. (hoping not, tee hee). Countin the days here, come on people are we there yet??? (yes I am on a new medication so overlook me:D)

Ken,

thanks for answering the question with those great pics! I love Ft. pierce too,....well the wet part of it anyway LOL. There have been a lot of species showing back up here the past few years. In fact people have cought nice size bonefish in the inlet near the North jetty in the sandy spots, that along with the increasing Tarpon and Permit population, Ft. pierce is going to be the next best unknown fishing area around. We have resident Tarpon (the BIG ones) year round at the power plant, mostly the riverside but if you can handle the swells, the honey hole on the ocean side has plenty of action to keep ya busy too, just bounce the bottom, or jig up & down, you'll get somethin nice LOL.

Maybe I'll see ya out there soon, I want to go out this weekend, we'll see.

Roger that on going back to the boils. Only thing is, I want to be in a bigger boat next time. Man, those swells were something else...especially on the return trip. I looked down from the top of one large swell and got vertigo..

I think this picture says it all about what bait they carry.

You can also go to their website at www.snooknook.net. Henry does a radio show every Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. and it streams live.

If you miss it, you can always go to their website and replay it. I still think he does a tv show and then a radio show on Saturday morning from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. There is also a daily update on one of the radio stations every morning of the current fishing report.

I love the Fort Pierce / Jensen Beach / Stuart area Mike. I try to get over and fish it when I can. I might even retire there since the fishing is absolutely outstanding both inshore and offshore! The Snook Nook is a great place to stop in and look around, buy stuff, and talk fishing!

Here is a night time shot from one of the catwalks of the Jensen Beach Causeway Bridge:

I tried fishing the catwalks for snook on a couple nights but with the wind blowing at 25 - 30 it was next to impossible. I did see some guys catch some huge ladyfish on Thursday night last week on live greenies. They also said that they saw schools of bunker which they hadn't seen locally in a couple years. The mullet were also thick around the bridge from what I saw. Bait was all over the place inspite of the windy conditions.

I'd still like to fish Fort Pierce Inlet on an outgoing tide at night! :)

Ken, I didn't know you fished Ft. pierce so much, I live here. We moved a little more north this year but still just minutes away. I love Henry's too, it's an old style layed back tackle shop, and they have everything. Does he still have his T.V. show, my cable company blocked out the channel he was on. Anyway Great pics and story too, Thanks.

Tom, I'll try to get down there to the jetty at night and see just how far those lights reach.

WOW.......They have done some decent work to the jetty sence the last time I was there.....Just the Resurfacing is a Huge Help,but not sure myself if those Short Light`s will help much for other than walking ;)

I love the Ft.Pierce Jetty,more so than Sebastian Inlet Jetties,....it is much Lower to the water,alot less crowded,and Deeper water.........and I`ve never caught a Short Snook from that jetty,most are on the High Side of the Slot,or Over-Slot.........But I don`t get down there near enough ;)

The River in that area does hold some of the Biggest Gator`s I`ve ever seen,and with all the trips I`ve made down there,I`ve never realy targeted them,mostly looking for Snook and one will smash my lure;)

Here are a couple pics of the jetty from this past weekend and some familar sites to the AF crew of the Fort Pierce area.

I don't know how effective those short little lights will be for night snook fishing on the jetty. Wonder if they cast a shadowline?

It was very windy for the most part except with a few hours here and there of calm. Tournament day (Saturday) was the calmest day. I did catch snook everyday out of the yak and had fun except for the fact that paddling head on into a 25 mph headwind with a white caping Indian River wasn't fun! Good thing I'm a strong paddler! :D

My car with yak on roof outside the famous Snook Nook in Jensen Beach! I love that place! Henry is a wealth of information and talk about tackle shop character and lore! :cool:

Hey Cracker,

Yep, that was the guy in our group! Couldn't believe I saw this while snook fishing the jetty. I was so glad to hear no one was hurt and the Mogan Maniacs pitched in and helped get the boat out of the water and running again in short order.

Yes, they lost some tackle but that can be replaced. Lives can't.

I still like that jetty! It's not like it used to be before the hurricanes did their damage but it may be perhaps the best inlet in the state for big snook and even more so, huge monster seatrout! The world record was caught just a few miles from the inlet. :)

I tried to catch a 30" seatrout for a couple days at the end of this past week in the Fort Pierce area and had a huge one swirl on my DOA Stark Naked 1/4 oz. shrimp but missed it. This happened while fishing the DOA Paddler's Only Tournament and if I would have caught this fish, I would have won the event! I was actually sight fishing and saw the Gator attack and miss the shrimp by just mere inches! :laugh:

I did catch this nice 30 1/4" fish on a DOA Deadly combo w/ 1/4 oz Nite-Glo shrimp at 5:45 a.m. in the morning out of my kayak. That was fun getting towed around in the dark by a nice fish with the drag doing a little bit of pre-dawn singing! :cool:

Now witch Wrong-Side-Up Boat was that ? There were several that weekend :w00t:......We had one from our group,the Gent had borrowed his buddy`s boat to join in the fun,anchored from the Stern,an Offshore Charter Boat went by and Swamped Em :w00t:.......they were fished out by other boats in the area, they recovered most of thier gear,and was able to get the boat back on the trailer.

When I returned from fishing,all thier gear was spread out on the tables drying,AF had got them back out on other boat`s so they might forget about the Mishap,Capt Karl had the bonnet off the motor in the parking lot,and between the two of us,we somehow got the motor dried out and Prrrrrrrring like a kitten,and even washed the whole boat out with fresh water before they made it back to the dock:D.........What a Great Family :cool:

Great Pic`s of those Snook on the Ft.Pierce Jetty........I`ve almost forgotten how nice they had that jetty before the STORMS.........Sweetly Paved with a nice smooth surface,and working Streetlight`s all the way down......Now it looks like a Bombing Range:pinch:

Capt.Dave and Julie, with friends who came all the way from Rhode island.

Ronnie is on the left.He comes from Tampa and is bringing his wife Diane to her first Mogan Mania this year. We have to make sure she has a great time and she will be in forever!

This is still my biggest snook to date.Caught in Ft.Pierce the day BEFOR the tournament of course!

Dave hooked this pelican and convinced him that he could win a trophy as the strangest catch if he would only hold the card!!:w00t::w00t: Then Norm forgot to turn in his memory stick!!!!:w00t:
