I can see where they need to be thinned out, kinda like the Nile Perch they put in the Lakes around here to eat the Hydrilla,they eat all the Hydrilla,then they get huge,chase all the Bass of thier Bed`s,and before it`s over,they eat ALL the Vegetation,then you have a Dead Lake:w00t:

I considered not posting this link at all , in fear of gettin my Azz jumped by some of the tree huggers around here ...but the fish in the video are an invasive species called Chinese Carp , that were introduced in an attempt to control vegetation in the Mississippi River near Illinois..to the best of my recolection,but I know they are starving out the native species of fish..so that being said..For the first time in 25 years , I wanna go North of the Mason Dixon line !!

Sparky , I have passed the Babcock Ranch a million times and always wondered if the game in there was as thick as I thought it would be !! That is my shortcut between Arcadia and Ft Myers, and have heard all kinds of good stuff from the locals that hunt that area !

I know it woudl be a haul for some of you Florida guys but I have openings in my bow only club in middle Georgia if anybody is interested. Lots of deer and big deer. Here is one takn last year:

I shoot a parker still trying to get the whole out of a treestand shot. I go hunting mostly to enjoy the outdors. When I'm hungry I'll hunt a little more serious. I hunt 3 lakes and some on bull creek WMA's. No deer yet but I got the hogs down.

I will let u know where they are going to start doing some hunts on the land. We have had foodplots down for about 4-5 years now. We have some very very serious hog in the place and some deer and some turkey and even bobcat. we have about 5-6 treestand some portable some permanent. and we have about 6-7 feeders out there that feed every day. I can post some pics later of the land and hogs later this week I will try.

Yeah I bet they do love it. Just so yall know we never shoot it and not eat it :) Our nehibor on the west side of our land he puts traps in the orange groves and traps the hogs for them and somtimes releases them into our property or he keeps them for himself. So many hogs on our place its unbeleiveable.

you take 31 and go to Bermont RD. Then there is a pretty large old folks trailer park out there I beleive its called Paradise Trailer Park. The property is down a dirt road to the side of that about 15 mins down the dirt road.

its pretty much square this pic was taken before we got the property cause it doesnt look the same anymore. Its the piece right in the middle with the tiny dirt road going through it. ITS BIG :) I dont live out there but I sure am considering moving out there.

My mom and step dad own a 160 acre ranch out off of Bermont RD. right at the end of babcock. It's hog city up there. Pretty soon we are going to start doing private hunts so maybe some of the members here could enjoy the some of the fun. I prefer a bow(I like to keep it quiet) but we also use rifles out there most people do.

WOW,didn`t think I`d see you on this section Mac :w00t:

I guess the First thing you need to figure out is if your going to use a Release or not...A release wrap`s around your wrist and clips on your String and pull`s it back,and has a Release Botton.Some folks use thier Finger`s,but I find that I can hold at Full Draw longer with a Release,but thats totaly up to you.

Compound or Recurve Bow....Compound Bow`s are usualy what everyone starts with because they have Sight`s to line up your target,where the Recurve is usualy plain with No Sights,No Frill`s,just you,your Bow,and your Arrow. Also a Compound Bow has a Cam on each end,mine has a 75% Let-off,that means if my Bow is set at 100lb,at Full draw I`m only holding 25lbs,a Recurve set at 50lbs,has No Cam`s,so at Full Draw you still are holding 50lbs.

Draw Length: They should ask if your shooting with a Release before they mesure you for your Draw Length. This Mesurement is very Important ,it will determine the Size of your Arrow`s,and witch Bow you choose. Each Bow has a Tag on it with Info on :

Serial #

Make

Pre-Set....Mine was set at the Factory at 28" Draw at 65lbs Draw Weight

Draw Length : Mine is set for a draw length of 27" to 29"

String Length: Mine has a String Length of 92.75"

Solid or Split Limb Design : I have a Solid Limb,but wished I went with a Split Limb,for better Vibration Suppression.

Arrow`s: Go Carbon,much stronger and straighter than Wood or Alum

Tip`s : You will need Field Target Tip`s as well as Broadhead`s,keep the Weight of both the same,if you plan to use 100grn Broadhead ,then use a 100grn Target tips or you be off with you broadhead;)

Broadheads: you have Fixed Blades and Mechanical Blades,the Fixed Blades has the Blades locked into an Open position Fixed in one place....A Mechanical Blade has Blades that fold back,and when it hits the target,the Blades Open up to make the cut.......The Mechanical Blade will have a straighter Flight Path,but it may or may not open on contact,Fixed Blade have a Fairly Straight Path,but your sure to punch a big hole in whatever you hit....My Advice,start with a Fixed Blade broadhead......Muzzy 3 Blade Fixed 100grn or the G5 One Piece Alluminum 100grn Broadhead{Sweet but $$$$$}

Then go :

There you will see all the Dodads they got to get rid of all the Noise and Vibration out of your Bow;)

Arrow Rest: Go with the Wistker Bisquit,keeps arrow`s in place until you release the arrow....Even Upside Down....Best yet ;)

Bow Case: A good Hard Side case will keep your Bow from getting beat up compaired to a soft case

Target Bag........The Block is the Best,but a Cheap Bag will do if money is getting tight.

Arm Gaurd.....Looks GAY,but you`ll be glad you got one;)

Peep Sight : Tied into your string,you look through it and line up your sight....True Sight has a good one that has a piece of Tubbing that keeps it straight at full draw.

Release Loop; Tied onto your string,your Release hooks on to it so your release doesn`t ware through your string.

There are a few things to get you started :P....Let me know if you need any more Info,and let us know what you got :D

Tom,

The guys from work have got me all rev'd up to go bow hunting. First it was the Fly fishing, now the Deer hunting, what comes in the spring???. Anyways- one of the guys owns a Archery shop/3D Range. I'm waiting for my expense check from my transfer up here and then I'm going shopping for a Bow. He's promised to make me a good deal. I'm hoping its before xmas. When you gonna head up this way??? Any suggestions on what I should be looking for in my first bow? I don't want this guy to sell me the $10,000 magic bow, just something decent.

Belive me,comming to Full-Draw isn`t easy,even for someone as big as me,I`m pushing 200lbs,and I have my Browning "Ambush" Compound Bow set at 65lbs during Deer Season,but during Turkey Season I drop it down to 50lbs.

Thank God for Let-Off.....The Point where you pull the string,and it get`s easy,My Bow has a 75% Let-Off,so when I pull the string it start`s off at 65lbs,but at Full-Draw 75% of that weight goes away until you release.

Glad to hear that your hunting with a friend,alway nice to have someone to help drag your game out of the wood`s,and God Forbid,but it happens,a Snake Bite,Fall out of a tree,Twist your anckle......ya have someone there to help you out.

hey cracker...i will be hunting with a buddy of mine that i fish and hunt with...i shoot a PSE Spyder compound bow...only prob is i got it probably 2 years ago when i was younger and i am only barely pulling 40 lbs.( i am a pretty small 15 yr old) but i will be hunting on private land in fellsmere, port st john...and some west cocoa areas...going to get some new stuff tomorrow..

HEy cracker sry my computer was down all last week and didnt get your message ontil sat. :( very sry tho i went up to ponce inlet and the snook fishing is on fire right now at dusk and dawn on lures and throuout the night on live pinfish. the gps cord.(their is suposed to be a little circle after the 28 and 81 for the degre sign but cant put it but they are 28 57'40.82" N. and 81 10'39.43" W. this is the south west point of any of the land we hunt and the properties go from their to the north east. hope this helps you out.

mabye i can make it up to you by seeing what i can do to get you out their. :)

There are several area`s over there that you can dump smaller boat`s in:

Scottsmore Ramp : South of SR3{Road to Haulover} on Hwy 1,when you come into Scottsmore there will be a Gas Station on the right, Take first left after the Station on Huntington,take Huntington all the way to the end....Little Paved Ramp Area,Very Shallow;)

There are Two on SR3,before you get to Haulover,both on the left,both takes you out to the Lagoon.

Haulover Ramp of coarse.

Granny Cove: Turn Right off of SR3 into the Entrance to Haulover Ramp,but instead of turning right again to head to the ramp.....turn Left and go to the first trail,turn right on that trail,that trail will "T" with another trail,turn Right, then at the next fork take the left trail,that will lead out to a point where you can launch John-Boat`s and Yak`s,and shore fish.....Put`s you in the Grass-Flat`s South of Haulover in the River;)

Bio-Lab Ramp: South of Haulover on SR3,on your left,put`s you in the South Lagoon Area.

Sorry....back to Hunting........If you can`t find the aireal photo,no big deal,if you have a Street address or General Location I can find it with "Google Earth"........Guess we should wait until we get an answer first:P

Cracker i thought i had a aireal photo but must of lost it when i reformated my computer. Ill go through a couple of floppy disk. Yes my friend took a pic w/his camra ill get it from him and post the pic. The only ramps i know of is the one's off the road on the way to Haulover canal and the one at the canal. would i stay on us1 going south to get to scottsmore(how far from kellys bait and tackle) would it be?

Thanks Dan,I use to run the tractor up in Ga. during picking Season,mostly Peanut`s Picker`s,so a Bush-Hog should be no problem;)

Glad to hear your on the Red`s over at Haulover,I do wade the River Side of the canal,and can usualy find something to tug on a line. The Red`s are soon to be Spawning,and the Grassy Point area should be on fire right now with school`s of Large Red`s,I have a few Side-Job`s this week-end,should be enough to get my Tag`s up to date...we`ll see....if so,you`ll be the first one in the front of my John-Boat;)......We can meet over at the Scottsmore Ramp,then run over to Grassy Point:D

Hey cracker11 im waiting to hear back from him. I talked to his wife the other night and will be hearing back from him over the weekend i hope. Ill call you as soon as i get an answer. I went down to Haulover Canal today did pretty good on flats this morning caught 3 reds on the gulp natural shrimp. I tried 2 different types of spoons but couldn't get anything on them. My buddy stayed at the canal while i waded and got 2 a 25 and a really nice 43(he put the fish on my talegate and took a pic took up most of it on my nissan frontier). Do you still wanna go when you get tags on your boat? Anyway back to hunting ill tell him you dont mind helping everyounce in a while its not hard work tho we bushhog and just keep side roads clear. Easy work really, usually have it done in a couple of days.

It`s a shock to me as well Kracker,after looking for year`s for a low dollar hunting area around here,I`ve pretty much given up and gave in to Public Land Hunting thing,witch is not bad once you except the fact that there WILL BE load`s of people hunting with you,and let them do the work for ya........Hang a stand near the Parking Area,and let everyone flush them out as they go through.....like a bunch of Bird-Dog`s;)

Give me a holler when you find out Danger Dan,don`t sweat it if they say no,I`ll understand.......Just let them know I have a Chain-Saw,Fence Plier`s,and a 4x4,and don`t mind working to earn my keep....just give me a holler either way:D.......And Thank You for even asking for me:cool:

OMG ! I didnt think anything like that still exsisted. The last time I checked into a formal lease , it was 1200 dollars a head:w00t: and so many rules that I wouldnt have joined if I did have the money, such as ..you HAD to take 2 does before you could get a buck ...he problem is , there were very few of either, and the ones that were there , I wouldnt have harvested because of their size:ermm:

I have a cousin in West Virginia that has 157 acres of mountain property that is LOADED with deer, but I just dont want to call and ask him to hunt it when I havent seen or talked to him in 10 years..lol
