Has anyone killed any thing if you have post a pic i will post one when i get something! I missed a 6 pt and a buck that only had his right side and it forked at the top, and all of that was during bow season! hopefully i will do better with black powder season starting this week end! Wyoming Slam

Just got back from southeastern WY. This was the first year i qualified for landowner tags and was able to draw all three Antelope, Mule deer, and Elk. The first few days of scouting were very promising with a herd of 500 Elk staying near the center of our ranch. Several antelope were seen and they were in the rut, this kept them from being too worried about the goings on around them. Mulies were everywhere, and it was hard to keep from shooting a couple of nice bucks the first few days.
I spotted this antelope from about a mile away and tried to close the distance several times, but their were a couple of spooky females in the group that kept spooking the herd. A friend and I belly crawled as close as we could, and I ended up making the shot of a lifetime on him from 600yds with my .270WSM while bracing on my friends legs.

For two days i guided a group of cow elk hunters per an agreement made with the Rocky Mntn Elk Foundation. They are doing some controlled burns on a few of our pastures and for funding this we agreed to allow 10 cow elk tags to be filled on our property. I missed a chance at the herd bull which was a monster 8x8 nontypical, but got a bead on this guy. Later that day we filled 4 cow elk tags after cutting the herd off from another direction.

With all the work to do on the Elk, i was a little leary of filling the muley tag, but after the 5 of us got it all taken care of i still had another day. A friend and I spent the morning packing up the four wheelers and making lunches etc., for a day of hunting on a neighboring ranch. So after an hour of so of preperation we were off. Just as we pull down the drive from the ranch house, this guy is standing broadside at about 50 yds. So with a quick brace on the hood of the truck, the 3rd tag was filled. Not the biggest buck i have taken, but a real solid and heavy 4x4. I determined he was still about a year from his peak, but the convenience actor was definitly there.

All in all a really productive year, and got to meet and guide several great people.

P.S.Anyone hunting Elk in southeastern WY for anytime in the future needs to make sure and put in for cow tags as they had over 1000 left over last year and the populations are out of hand.

Squirrel Hunting With Dogs

I was just wondering if any one here hunts squirrels with dogs. I see several folks here hunt duck, deer and turkey so I was just wondring. I have squirrel dogs and that is what takes up most of my free time! I also do a little deer hunting (for meat, not trophy:D), turkey hunting but my second love to squirrel hunting would have to be fishing.

I hunt with Original Mtn Curs and also a breed known as a Mullins Stock Feist. If you hunt with dogs, what breed(s) do you hunt?

bought it about 3 years ago...never hunted with...not used a whole lot either...pulls 40 lbs and is great for a beginner or young hunter...that is what i intended to do with it but i have outgrown it now...purchased the bow for $250 and 6 arrows for $40...i will let the bow and arrows go for $150 or best offer

This buck was killed two weeks ago in the Texas Hill Country.
The deer was taken on a 12 acre plot of land, has 22 points and has not been scored yet. The man who shot it said he has been watching the buck for 3 years.

It's hammer time!!! Going in the A.M. and I ain't gonna sleep a wink tonight! The dog is on pins and needles right now; watching me get everything ready and won't let me out of his sight! As I type this, old Bud is laying by my feet studying every move I make (this is his 10th year retrieving ducks)... I swear; I wouldn't trade this feeling for anything in the world... The anticipation of what is to come!

September is almost here:w00t:,time to get out in the wood`s and see what the Critter`s are doing,get some GPS Number`s on some tree`s to use with my "Tree Lounge" Climber,with all the Fire`s ya never know if the Tree you used last year is still standing:w00t:,or if it`s surrounded by water.

I hunt Public Land{Wildlife Management Area`s} Bull Creek mostly,it`s just East of Hollopaw,on 192 in Osceola County. Bow Season starts on Sept 23rd,I plan on scoutting this area off and on until Mogan Mania 5,after that, Saturday`s will be spent in the North Indian River,and Sunday`s will be spent in the Wood`s there at Bull Creek scoutting for Turkey,and Doe`s......Hog`s are easy enough to find,and a good White-Tail Buck....let`s just say...Stupid Luck is needed;)

So if anyone in the area wants to get out in the wood`s,or anyone from outside the area that want`s to check out a new spot,give me a holler....or if you have an area of Wood`s your ready to start scoutting and would like an extra set of eye`s with ya...Give Me A Holler;)

My Freezer is Empty,and I`m ready to fill it up this year:cool:
