Throw a fresh shrimp and you will most likely land one. I am going there this saturday, Going to have a blast! Heavy tackle is definantly needed, trying to keep a fish from going under the pier with light tackle is very hard.

RE: Placida Fishing Pier

There is always a ton of snook at the Placida pier. Best bring some heavy tackle though.

RE: Placida Fishing Pier

Glad to know it's still there. Last I heard it was to be torn down. Used to be some monster black drum there. Guess I will have to pay it a visit after MM. Have you dipped any shrimp from there? We used to really nail them.

RE: Placida Fishing Pier

No the tressel is still there. But a big fence is in the way. That doesnt stop me though, I just swing around it. There are huge fish on the other side of that. I was all the way at the end and there was a huge shadow in the water, I had no idea what it was but it was huge. I am guessing a big drum or Grouper. I usually get to the pier at 9:00 PM and leave around 6:00 AM. The water is always on fire between those times. The snook pop like crazy!!! If anyone is after monster fish thats the place to go.

RE: Placida Fishing Pier

Used to hang a lantern off the old railroad tressel and dip shrimp as they came by. No trouble at all filling a 5 gallon bucket a night. Too bad they tore it down.

RE: Placida Fishing Pier

hey man welcom to the forum, and yes i fish placida, grove city, boca, and all over there and ican tell ya that if your not fishing from a boat and from the pier in placida your doing the right thing by hanging a lanter over the side,iv done it many time and caought many big fish!My ant owns a house on the creek over by placida pier and i fish the creek and the pier all the time if im not on a boat.;)

RE: Placida Fishing Pier

Thanks guys.

RE: Placida Fishing Pier

hi chris and welcome to the fishin forum

RE: Placida Fishing Pier

Welcome to the forum, Chris!

Placida Fishing Pier

Im kinda new to the forum, Names Chris.
