I pretty much fish bass with a topwater presentation in heavy cover. For me a 6 or 8 is ideal.....maybe even a 9. I throw mostly poppers, sliders, divers, and other frog patterns for bass so the bigger presentations require bigger stuff. Wind plays a big part in it too. But what everyone else said is good.....5-8....throw in a 9.....and you should be fine.

RE: largemouth bass fly fishing weights

I use an 8 but some of the deer hair bugs I use are pretty "fluffy".

RE: largemouth bass fly fishing weights

For bass I'll fish with my 6wt, but 5wt would be a lot more fun. <br>If youre fishing strictly for bass then my suggestion is a 5wt

RE: largemouth bass fly fishing weights

I use a 5-6 wt rod/reel. 6wt line.
