I have to be honest with you, that was only my second saltwater fly fishing trip. On my first trip to Belize I hooked into a permit on the first day, first flat ( I know now how lucky I really was), and after a 5 second scream it snapped me off on coral. I caught a half dozen bonefish on that trip and was blown away by how such a small fish could rip out line and bend an 8wt like it did, but to me it didn't compare to that permit. On this last trip my guild and I figured we saw close to 100 permit in 5 days and had a shot at around 30, that being said we did nothing but hunt permit for five days straight. Next time I go it will be hard to pull me from the permit flats or the lagoon where it's a whole different permit game. I guess im an addict.

Congats my friend...this will be my 2nd yr chasing Biscayne Bay permit...am seeing more all the time and have had several near-perfect shots but still nothing...it is the only fish that eludes me on the flats...I have success with bones/tarpon but not permit...great picture and pretty work...maybe someday my ship will come in...BTW ...how is the fight compared to a bone?

Congrats! First off, catching a permit would be great but then you tack on the trip to Belize and wow, what a trip/day. Nice catch.

15lb permit caught on my tan cripple ep crab (one leg broke off as i was tying it). Port of Honduras, Belize. first permit ever. Lost two bigger than this the day before after a 15 min. fight on both. Both fish rubbed my fly off, I tore my fly off.

Here is a photo of my 7.4 pound bass that I caught earlier this year. She was caught on a spun deer hair critter I like to tie. I caught three others (not all in one day) that were slightly smaller with the third one being the smaller and weighing in at 6.8 pounds. I usually sneak down to the ponds when I don't have time to make a run to the salt water. Most of the time I end up with 1-2 pound fish but then again, I do end up with 6-7 pound fish :D

2 get pics from a throw away u ask for a cd of ur pics when u get them developed. They usually have them n put it in ur cd drive and upload the pics. Hope this helps:)

Awesome red and awesome fly!!!!

Oh about that throw away camera... after the pic is developed, use a scanner to get the pic in a cpu so you can post it, or when you get a roll of film developed, ask for a picture cd as well that you can put on your pc. That is what I did before I went digi.

I caught this nice 38" red at the nmz on one of my own flies that I call the office toad. The carpet in my office had a run in it and the carpet was unraveling so I thought to myself, hey that would make a great fly, hence the name office toad. I was using a 9 wt with a 10 lb tippet.
