I managed to catch a tarpon on a fly! Not only did I catch one but I continued to catch them for about 30 min. I caught 4 of them but they were all small ones. They still count in my book. I was wandering around the mangroves and I saw a pipe connecting the marsh to the river and I decided to fish it. The river side was dead but the marsh side was full of activity so I stood at the pipe and cast a shrimp pattern into the moving water. I saw fish rolling below the murky water so I let the fly sink and after a few small twitches, BAM tarpon on! The end result was 4 landed with the largest one being about 20 inches. Now that I've got a few under my belt, I'm going after the big guys in the spring.
