I was just south of where we launched. When I saw the guides, I was just west of the first small point west of where the road turns west.

I paddled further south and found cleaner water, but by then it was pretty late in the day. One of the guides was poling south, right along the shoreline. My buddy was in a small blue canoe south of me. Hope to see you out there sometime!

Didn't see any yaks over in the pocket, but I was just south of you. I did see the two guide boats, and they were there again on Monday. I staked out in the lee side of the shore. The two guides were there again Monday, but honored where I was fishing and didn't buzz me.

I was at the pocket on Sunday, was in a tan kayak, saw 2 boats come in, but both had more than 1 person in them. Looked like a couple of guides that were scouting for fish. Didn't see many fish, but we didn't go far from where we put in. Had a decent fish on the plug rod, but it threw the plug, but couldn't seem to hook anything on the flyrod.

CS, I went both Sunday and Monday knowing I was facing a brisk northeast wind. Ended up going by myself, but looked forward to just "getting out there".

Took the 9 wt and and 8 wt, but never took the 8 wt out of the tube. Managed a nice 25.5" snook Sunday, but nothing else. Monday was less windy and saw some nice "over the slot" reds, but I reckon they weren't hungry. All in all though was very pleasurable out there.

Went exploring up there this past weekend, just drove around looking at places to launch the kayak. Haulover looked like a river of mud, lots of current, so I guess the bottom was stirred up. I'm really looking forward to Monday, hope we find some fish! Got my 8wt all rigged up, but taking a plug rod just in case. I'll let you know how we do!

CS...mostly out on Parrish Park just on the east side of the bridge that heads over to NASA and Playa Linda Beach. If I fish the north end of the river or the lagoon, I launch at Haulover, but it's a single ramp and gets crowded quickly. Saturday we launched there and the grass was so thick it looked like we had bales of hay stuck under the boat when we pulled out.

Where are you launching from? I had to change plans to Monday, so I will probably miss you there.

The reason I ask about where to launch is that the buddy I'm going there with also has a flats boat, so when we were there this past Sat exploring, we were wondering where the closest launch is. We will have my kayak, and he is taking his canoe on Monday, and we are going to launch right from the road, so it's no problem, just if he wants to take his boat the next time

CS...I may be in there with you on Sunday. I'll be in a white Scout Costa 190. Holler if you see me. We plan on doing a little filming over there. If the wind is blowing a little, I may run up on the north end of the river.

Let me tell you something about myself, I've been fishing the east Central FL area for about 35 years (born here and don't plan to leave). I've been using the long rod for about 20 years now. I still consider myself a rookie at it but I give it a good try. I tie my own and build my own rods (built 4 but still consider myself a rookie rod builder). I fish from a canoe 99% of the time and l throw plugs 99% of that time. I'm a CTPR (Catch, Tag, Photo and Release) fisherman.

After bass fishing for years, I started flyfishing about 5yrs ago. And just this summer started flyfishing saltwater. Still have the bass boat, and just bought a kayak to fish in the salt with. I really enjoy flyfishing both salt and freshwater, as a matter of fact, I'm going up to Mosquito Lagoon tomorrow to find some places to launch the kayak, as I have only been there twice, so if you can offer any tips, I would appreciate the help.

I also tie my own flies, not real well, but I'm getting better! It's a real hoot to catch a fish on one of your own creations.

I usually come by here and check out the forum 3-4 times a week, so I'll keep stopping by here and maybe we can trade fish stories.

let me tell you something about me i live in miami ive been throwing the buggy whip for aslong as i can remember but i know im still a student to the extence as i know absolutly nothing. i have a boat i have a seahunter 18 carbon kevler nothing rides as well i love to fish flamingo and biscayne bay. and i guess i still have a bunch of years a head of me so maybe i can tell a bunch of stories

Mornin' Ed...

Yeah, I posted some info to those that asked a couple of questions but it seemed to go un-noticed, oh well.

I reckon it's just you and me.

A little about me, I've been slinging the long-rod for a little over twenty years, tie my own stuff and I've been fortunate to have some of the best teach me a thing or two, or three. But after all these years, I still consider myself a student. I honestly believe that when we assume we know it all about anything, it comes up to bite us in the arse. :w00t:

I'm up in the east central Florida area and was born and raised in a little town in central Florida called Auburndale. I'm a retired offshore skipper and have since retired from guiding these flats over on the Indian River Lagoon system. Now I'm busy teaching my son in law and my oldest grandson to fly-fish, as well as a select few others.

A few years ago, I sold my guide boat, my Hewes Redfisher, and recently (the week before Father's Day) purchased a Scout Costa 190 Stu Apte skiff...nice ride, I even like it more than I did my Hewes, not that there was anything wrong with it.
