i know they look diffrent in just botherin and i agree with you i dont even have hole for a troller, not too mention i love how everybody now refers JP to me as the gaurd tower guy :D

I never really used my Trolling motor... it makes to much noise, gets in the way, and fly line gets caught all over it!!! I'd rather pole up to fish.

Actually my "Peekaboo Sliders" are very different from Joe's sliders!!! The design of mine are based on my buddy JP's (guard tower guy) sliders.

Fished hard this weekend under 15-20kts. Spent the weekend fishing a Tournament in Islamorada. After 2 days of prefishing on spin, I decided that Flamingo would be the best plan seeing that bonefish were under heavy pressure from another tournament. I decided top increase my points by catching the redfish on fly. Flyfishing with an 8wt under 15-20kts on open flats that were heavily fished by other Flamingo guides and weekend warriors wasnt easy, especially when you factory in periods of limited sunlight due to spotty scattered patches of clouds. This made for real tough sight-fishing.

Prior to this tournament, I had been attempting my first bonefish on fly, throwing at some of the toughest fish to catch on fly under windy conditions as well. This made for great training and helped me improve 10fold when I targetted an easier species such as redfish. All the practice under pressure helped me greatly as I managed to hook every single redfish we saw given a backcast shot or an upwind shot.

In the 2 days I managed to hook just over 10 redfish on fly, landing 3 on fly. One of the fish was the largest redfish I had ever caught on fly. They dont get much bigger then that in Flamingo. I hooked all the fish on a fly I had tied myself, I named the "peekaboo slider". Fish went absolutely bonkers over this fly.

What a great experience. It goes to show that you can cast all day in your back yard but the real training that counts is when you are out on the water with the fly rod and force yourself to stick to it under some of the toughest conditions.

... My boat goes under modification this week to better accomodate fly fisherman. I will start by cleaning up the front deck and putting a removable bracket for the trolling motor (which will probably come off and rarely ever see my boat again).
